Whenever a plant is brought inside the house to accent the decore or other purposes (In my case, I have two young plants that will produce tropical fruits when mature); my sister's cat has a rather bad habit of eating any plant down to the soil. Right now, my plants are placed inside the aquarium for protection. Eventually, these plants will out grow the aquarium and will have to be placed out in the open with my sister's cat lurking around. For those with cats, what do you recommend for a course of action that would curtail the cat's ambition to destroy any plants inside the house? Your input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Robert

News Credits: 1 | Bitter Apple Spray for Plants. Available at places like Petco, usually in the medical and/or grooming section. Don't get the regular strength, it will burn your plants. Also, there are recipes online for deterrents using cayenne pepper and other things.
And get the cat some cat grass. Cats need the greens.
Placing the plants on a high shelf until they're really big will help, too.

Never been to Petco, but the catgrass that petsmart sells tends to die out rather fast.
Also grow some catnip, some cats will eat that over the grass. |

You could even just get a pan, like an aluminum cake pan, put some dirt in it, and then some plugs from your lawn provided you don't use ANY weedkiller or non-organic fertilizer on it, then put something on top that would keep the cat from digging in the dirt but let the grass grow through. Might last longer than storebought, which usually is rootbound by the time you buy it.
