He was in a band called NineFall. But now he retired from that band to find a better job, I think he's working with computers. Man, that was loud I couldn't hear myself think, but it was fun. I listen to everything except Country...seriously, why does that genre exist? I saw a commercial which said "The Best in Country Music" and it had a promo of a song that actually used the lyrics "I want to search you for ticks"....wow.
| For you to say that and in the same breath claim to know shit about music in general is an oxymoron.
Yes, there are country songs that are cheesier than Velveeta and a lot of them aren't even intended to be taken seriously, but if you would READ lyrics instead of song titles, there are quite a few country songs out there that would make emo/death/melancholy bands look upbeat.
call me a pussy, but i have country songs i listen to on only special occasions- when someone dies or when my heart is breaking and ya know what? it hurts like hell to hear it and i ache. but it is pure catharsis and i recover.
lemme test your music IQ: what does this verse mean? Quote: |
He stopped loving her today/they placed a wreath upon his door/and soon they will carry him away/he stopped loving her today"
| it meant he loved her till he died. he never got over her. he ached till it killed him. pretty grim for country, eh?
Do i like trance music? no. but as an amateur musician and Beakman's World devotee`, i will fucking listen to it, and i can pick up on the reasons why others like it. i give it its due and let it be. passing judgment on it is beyond juvenile, it borders on ignorance that gets people in way too many fights.
So if you listen to Cemetery Gates and cry when your girl dumps you, or you listen to some Swedish Band bark for 8 minutes about pain and loss, just remember, country did it long long long before they even knew what a power chord was, and did it with something they never did. grace and dignity.
and i thought the first post mentioned no hating here?
if ignorance is bliss, then you must be slap happy....
rant over. Quote: |
