R2D2 Mailboxes For Star Wars 30th Anniversary

Will be at U.S. Post Offices to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars.

Star Wars collectors just died a little inside.

Hey, stamp prices keep climbing and I can't get a Netflix on time, but at least the USPS is focused on what matters to the consumers.
Feedback here! Criminals are HOT.

I'm a big SW fan and even I think this is a little too much.

This right here is what bothers me about this move. The USPS has more important things to worry about than celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Star Wars. That should be a fan concern, not a government concern, and ultimately the USPS is a government agency.

Anything else I say about this is bound to go political so I'll just leave it at that.

This is almost as bad as the $250 R2-D2 waste basket that was being sold.

Why do I feel that there will be a report about a lot of thefts of post boxes soon?

That's why they're only in the offices, not on the street corners.

And by 'helping us celebrate,' they really mean "we paid them a shitload.'

u mad?

Lucas paid the USPS a shitload to advertise his next DVD boxset on federal property. This is no different than ads on city busses. This actually brings in money to the USPS. It's advertising. KISS will be next.

edit: I misunderstood the ferret. We are in accord.

That's all good, then. The ad revenue will be squandered by the bureaucracy, course, but at least they'll be squandering that instead of more tax dollars.

I wish Army would sell ad space. I'd love to have a Bradley with a movie ad airbrushed on the side. Or unit sponsorships. Belonging to the 3-6 Coca-Cola Field Artillery Battalion would kick ass. Plus, we'd get free soda.
