the platform i use is inconsequential, as long as i can produce shit on it.

*misses windows 3.1 with the program manager*

i dont know whats the point really with windows GUI, its always catching up to macs. if i wanted a fancy GUI, id be using mac now.

...i dont need a fancy GUI. (but if i had a laptop only for browsing/file managing, itd be a mac)

If you're going to release a new version of your OS anyway, you might as well update the GUI and make it look nice, don't you think? I'm pretty sure that's what the point is.

Have I upgraded?

Heh.

Heheheh.

Hahahahaha.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

LOLOCAUST!!!

I'll upgrade (maybe) when I think its safe. e.g, after a big service pack and stuff. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I remember WIN95 being buggy as hell until its major service pack, same with 98, and again with XP.

Perhaps I'm being narrow minded. Perhaps my memory is jaded. But right now XP on my machine is doing its job admirably, and I don't see the need to change it at all.
Time for a change...

Posting from it right now.

I'll VM or Dual Boot XP if I still need it when I do the rest of my machines, i'm not going to delay installing a new OS on a capable machine just because some companies were too incompetent to update thier software when they've had 6 months of free Betas and RC versions to work with.

I'm running Vista RC2 right now on a GeForce 6800GT, and it's working perfectly. No problems at all. In fact, I've been running it for months without a single problem except compatibility with a few minor apps; all the major apps I use (Lightwave, Photoshop, Premiere, and so on) seem to work fine with it.

I would have upgraded but my home computer would have struggled to run it, so that needs to be upgraded first.

I'm looking for a new PC at the moment, and that will likely run Vista from the start.

Can't say I'd even think about upgrading on my old machine though.

I'm not going to bother with the upgrade for awhile now. I always find that ANY new Windows application sucks during opening release. Maybe when they've come out with a SP2 for it, will I upgrade.
