So, I book a lot of flights online. Not surprising, since I live on a bloody island and am constantly visiting someone, somewhere in the outside world.
But this...this is a definite FIRST.
I was booking a flight for me and my then-boyfriend to Denmark for
June 28th to go visit. It was late last May, Heyyy, no prob, found a 'book now!' deal on the
Iceland Express website whose link I followed to book and pay for said flight. I even got an e-mail confirmation and whatnot, no problem...
Then due to complications, none of the people we were going to Denmark to see were actually going to be there at that time, so we would basically be flying out there to meet...noone. I hadn't found a return flight at that time, and didn't think too much about it, was just going to skip the trip altogether. Sure, I lost a couple bucks as I pre-paid the non-refundable trip, but it would be even more expensive for me to change and/or even find a return flight, I just let it go.
And to top things off, my then bf and I split up shortly after that, so we were definitely not going on a trip together....
June 28th comes and goes, and I think nothing of it.
Now HERE comes the freaky part:
I am planning on going to Denmark early September to see my friend Caroline, byt haven't really started looking at flights or such.
Then I get an e-mail yesterday from Iceland Express, reminding me of my flight to Denmark...on
Septemer 4th. I thought this was some sort of glitch in their system, I most certainly had not booked any flights to Denmark in months! The e-mail had a booking and pin-number, so when I tracked down my confirmation e-mail from my original booking date, it says...September 4th.
WHAT. IN. THE. BLUE. F**K.
I am still baffled as to how this happened. Either I was just totally mind-blocked and my consience, or the IE server just thought 'Oh no, she doesn't want to go on that trip anyway, so I'll just book it at a more convenient date for her...'
The ONLY other time I have had anything even similar to that happen, was the hotel booking at OTFCC 2003 in Chicago, which led to me (with help from Boardwise

) to eventually go "what the hell" and show up anyway, which turned out to be the best trip EVER.
So, any of you guys have any similar seemingly unexplainable "twists of fate" things happen?
