The same way that certain mugs change colour when filled with hot water.

 

It's the same paint used on Hot Wheels cars that have the same gimmick. It's heavily modified to withstand being used on a real vehicle and all that entails, which is why the change fades so quickly.

It's an impressive piece, but I'm betting that paint job was ridiculously expensive.

 

Here's a question: what deco would you want your car to switch between?

For a moment I thought it was gonna be this:

I came up with this idea years and years ago. I basically wanted giant magnetic rub signs that you'd stick onto your bonnet/hood and as the engine warmed up it would reveal the faction symbol.

I even went and did a search for colour change paints, asking a manufacturer of those smutty disappearing bikini mugs where I could get some, but I couldn't find anything.

it's only hot water that does the effect so the rain would have to be hot
