And you'd be absolutely right. Too late. The coolant has already leaked, giving all readers of this thread a golden shower.
Interviewer's a jerk to RDJ. Evans and Remmer made an inappropriate joke. If making a badly timed joke is enough to get you shot, a lot of people would be dead (including me and a lot of people on this site, I bet). ...Ewwww...
Okay gang, we had to remove a few comments/posts that were trolling and flaming, remember rule 1... play nice and keep it on topic. Use of racial, bigoted, sexist, or discriminatory terms or phrases is not accepted. Posts intended solely to antagonize others are not accepted. Keep topics/posts where they belong. Generally, “play nice”.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Rob wasn't rude at all. That guy pushed a movie-interview into deep water, and Downey was, quite reasonably, upset by it. He had every right to leave.
Or joined in on the joke and laughed, because you know, it's a joke. About a fictional character and it was funny. Fuck the haters. It should be, honestly. This breach will just end in horrible disaster. Geordi won't make it this time. Disney doesn't give a shit. It was a joke and the movie will make them another billion. They're not going to lose a wink. Yeah, we're all about to lose our cool on the OP.
I have tremendous respect for Krishnan, particularly his work on Unreported World. I've seen him handle some very difficult subjects in an even handed fashion. This ... wasn't his finest moment.
OP, do you have something against the Avengers cast or something? I mean, RDJ was no where near rude. The Renner comment probably wasn't the best for an interview but it isn't a big deal and they aren't digging themselves into a hole
RDJ is finally talking about it Robert Downey, Jr.: 'I should have walked out on TV interview sooner'
After reading this, I googled the video for the Tarantino interview RDJ mentioned. Wow, how does that interviewer still have his job?
Downey didn't deserve to get attacked in that interview. We all know the journalist needed drama to get people to read the article.
The one way you can be sure the interviewer is a douche, is the way he never acknowledges how he intentionally made a guest uncomfortable. It shows a lack of empathy and tells you the guy is only after ratings and sensationalism, regardless if he hurts anyone's feelings. He also seems to deeply resent doing entertainment-related stories and isn't apologetic in the slightest. RDJ was right in calling him a muckraker.
I doubt he was. Although I can see how you'd draw that conclusion without the context of knowing who Krishnan Guru-Murthy is. There's a good summary by Russell Brand here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1ngJnB4Tn8
I get the point you're trying to make, so let's say he's more of a professional than he appears to be... Pretty shitty behavior, wouldn't you say? It certainly wasn't a necessary line of questioning, no matter how you look at it.
It was an inappropriate line of questioning considering it was a press junket to sell a movie. KGM, as a news journalist, feels it's his remit to do more than just advertise a movie - But he misjudged the story, it wasn't RDJ's past, it's what a cultural phenomenon these movies are. In the end it's something of a storm in a tea cup, RDJ didn't come off badly and the way it panned out Avengers 2 has got far more publicity from this than if it were just another vanilla interview that resulted in a 30 second puff piece.
