Need some help. New to the website, and was recommended I post something about a toy I recently came across in a collection. Just found a Takara blue-bluestreak that someone had painted (badly) silver? With all the silver bluestreaks out there, I have no understanding why a child would want a silver one(guess to be like everyone else). I do no have any idea what kind of base this paint is, just that it was painted on with a brush. I would love to see the original blue paint and plastic on the toy again. Will try and post pics of what I am dealing with. Didn't even give the bluestreak a second look initially when I bought the collection, it wasn't till I got home and flipped it over did I discover the blue paint that wasn't painted, under the toy. Any info on how to remove unwanted paint with out damaging the original paint would be great!
    Thanks!

if it's enamel based paint, then try soaking it in purple power. until the enamel can be scrubbed off with a toothbrush (gentle scrubbing, don't want to scuff the factory paint.)

Is this "purple power" found in the automotive department, or cleaning agents? Will it pull off the original paint in the process of soaking? Just wanted to make sure as if I soak the pieces, there are sections that have the original blue paint that I want to be left alone.....

"Help" threads go here, in Creative General Discussion. Also, have you viewed our Tutorials? This is a topic that is pretty well covered there.

yes, purple power is the automotive cleaning department, and I don't think it will remove factory paint, but I am uncertain.

as for the soaking, I tend to find that it may take a few hours for harder set enamels, so, I am uncertain.

HOWEVER, if it is sharpie, try rubbing alcohol.

Response to Supersquad7, thanks for the help on where to post this question. As for if it has been covered, I searched posts and found nothing about removing one coat of paint, or a bad aftermarket paint jobs. I only found post for how to remove factory paint from TF's.

Ellamin, thanks for your responses. Will try them out this week once I find the Purple Power, and get back with my results.
    Thanks

Well I cleaned up the painted Blue Diaclone Bluestreak. Took a bit longer than expected. Had to replace the windshield, find a grey sticker for the hood/windshield, and repainted the grey(on the arm/sections on the hood). All else is the original colors, and plastics. Cleaning agent worked great Ellamin.

After cleaning, and touch up paint.

This is what the blue bluestreak look like.
I wonder how rare he actually is?

Blue Bluestreak is rare to the point where you did good by finding one. It's kinda funny, I found this thread because I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with a yellow Cliffjumper - some dingus kid painted him red forever ago and I got him for like $8 on eBay because nobody knew any better. Did you wind up going with Purple Power?
