    hi

For those of you who attempted customizing your AOE Galvatron figure....my question is; how did you do it?

I remember reading somewhere that someone did it with watered down Sharpie Markers (personally, I love Sharpie Markers), and I noticed others did it with a bit more sophisticated means. (I don't have access to that technology)

So anyway, if you did any paint touch ups on this figure, I'd like to hear from you....

    thanks!

I think Testor has some paint pens. Check your local hobby shop.

If I go the spray route, then do I have to start disassembling the figure first?

I've only customized Construct Bots before, so taking those apart is a no brainer really.

You get better results with disassembling. Personally I really like Tamiya sprays, though some of them have occasionally given me issues. I can pretty easily get coats so thin that I don't even have to sand anything and rub issues are rare. But I have had the occasional problem with interacting with plastics causing the part to practically disintegrate. Also be careful with pins that you leave in as I've cause breaks that way. But 95% of the time they are so fantastic that I have difficulty telling it wasn't factory.

hmmmm, I wonder how hard it will be to paint Galvatron, since so much of it already has paint on it, and I merely want to darken the pale gray parts.

Can't just spray over it all I guess? ...I keep looking at some of the work done in the Radicon section, and I'm stumped over how they did it.

You can paint over paint. And if you just want to darken the figure, I'd recommend using Tamiya Smoke. It makes the paint just a bit darker. It's really not hard to paint a figure. Just jump in and do it. :)

I'd say dis-assembly isn't so much about paint rub as it is coverage. If you don't take it apart you are more likely to have places where you miss painting and that can stand out when you're done.
