I'm preparing to paint the eyes on MP-10, and I could've sworn I saw someone's pictures they posted on this board who did the same. They unscrewed the head, popped out the eye piece and painted them a bright blue. Since MP-10 cost over $200 when I bought him, and he's not easily replaceable, I wanted to confirm what the guy did before I make any mistakes. I don't want to take apart too many parts that I don't need to, to access the eye assembly. I'm trying to even figure out what size screwdriver will fit in the very narrow holes on the back of Prime's head

Do any of you recall seeing a post with pics? I tried searching and keep coming up with other customized MP-10s that were much more about painting the entire figure, etc

It is exactly as simple as you described.

First and foremost..you need a set of precision screwdrivers (these come in very handy, and I suspect if this is your first TF you are taking apart, you'll be using them frequently for others in the future). You will need to disassemble the head. It's relatively easy to put back together, the only PIA is the antennae since they are separate pieces.

If you don't have a steady hand, I'd recommend getting a metallic blue gundam marker.

There's 3 screw holes - 2 in the head, one in the neck. Do you only need to take the 2 out? I assume the neck screw is to take it off the balljoint?

It's quite simple. Not only that, but I was able to perfectly apply the paint with a frickin q-tip, didn't even bust out the brushes(no clean up!)

Heard some guys just put some blue paint on Saran Wrap and put that over the translucent eye piece as not to alter the figure in any way. If I got a TT MP-10, that's what I'd do (I've the Hasbro version).

I generally dont like the translucent eyes but are easy to change. My trick is not put paint or glue, only put in the middle a flexible plastic-paper sheet of metallic color like the one of christmas decoration or some packaging. The peg eyes push the plastic in the hole doing the form of the eye.
Can be tricky sometimes but you dont harm or change the toy and you have a metallic finish like the Optimus MP-1, my favourite robot eyes style (this is more easy with big transformers like masterpiece or leaders).

You can use a flexible plastic-paper of flat color if you like better, of course.
I want to do this with the MP-10 KO when it arrives to my home (the original MP10 is very expensive for me and i dont like the trailer so much) put the eyes metallic blue.
    PD:Sorry for my english T_T

These are some quick examples with Nemean to explain this (i want put his eyes golden or metallic black but i havent searched a plastic-paper sheets like these yet):

    The metalic plastic-paper sheets

Cut and put in the middle

    Autobot blue eyes

    Red flat eyes

    Strange blue-spots eyes

By the moment, Nemean will have green eyes cortesy from the packaging of Cat food

...And proceed from the Cat food is really appropriate for a lion ^^

No way am I using a power tool with that much torque on such a small job like this. I used a small screwdriver to remove things when I painted mine.

It's a pretty easy job to do. I typically use a sky blue craft paint + [Pledge with] Future for painting eyes. Normally I don't use craft paint, but on something this tiny that's not rubbing against anything, I feel pretty comfortable with it.

I need some help. I'm trying to do the eye swap too. I'm using the YOTH OP's eyes to replace my Takara MP10.

My issue, is the eyes in YOTH are hard to pull out. I've tried to use a qtip to push them from the outside but no luck. What did everyone use to get them out without scratching/damaging the eyes?

    Thanks in advance!

Apologies for resurrecting this ancient thread, but with the reissue of MP-10B right around the corner, the question of what if anything could be done about Takara's dead eyes popped into my mind. I like the idea of using some sort of covering or reversible coating to avoid permanently altering the figures. Has anyone tried something like this metallic foil paper? iCraft Deco Foil - BLICK art materials.

Seems like it could be pressed around the plastic and secured inside the head without adhesive. The blue/teal looks a little off to me for OP, but I like that red for NP.
