FOC Shockwave help needed

Has anyone yet removed the head from foc Shockwave? I have an idea for a custom and was wondering what problems anyone has run into before i attempt to remove the head. Thanks for any input you might have.

Working on one myself, and this is what stopped me. I don't see any way to do it easy. The head is glued together, so you'll have to try and work in a knife and pry it apart.

No matter what, it is risky, especially given the spring load neck/chest mechanism (pull too hard and it could break).

Also...the head sits really high, so keep that in mind with your replacement head. Good luck, let me know if you figure something out.

I was thinking about this issue today too. I unscrewed the part where the chest piece goes in to take a look inside and it looks like it'll be a nightmare to remove that head and seperate it.

I hate it when Hasbro glues together the components for a figure's head. They seem to do it for a lot/all of the WfC/FoC figures.

Well here's my progress.

Unscrewed the two screws underneath...no joy. But the chest plate pops out, which is nice for painting later.

So...no option but the hacksaw. Luckily the head sits up nice, and just enough room to fit the blade in without damaging the head or the neck. Well...not much damage.

How do you plan to reconnect the head?

I agree, the screws on mine wouldnt budge, so i took my soldering iron to them, and they came out. Im going to toysrus today to hopefully pick up another for my Scourge custom.

Not too bad. I popped the spring out, which lets you get underneath the head.

I should have done this first, I could have drilled out the metal head post from underneath.

As for re-attaching the head, I simply installed a new ball/socket joint. With access underneath, I can strengthen it with epoxy.

If anyone takes this route, be sure to re-attach the black neck part before permanently attaching the ball stem of the joint. You need to slide it in sideways and the new ball stem will be in the way.

Good luck!
