SW has it's purpose. if there's a better alternative, would love to hear about it. In any order you can, splurge and get the UFD. SF is exactly that, strong and flexible, but you'll sacrifice a smooth finish. Even the polished SW products tend to lose details (tumbler I believe) but for their price point and product, it's still a nice service. I've used just regular sandpaper, working my way from 120 > 200 > 400 > 800 and then primer & paint.

This is why I've been designing for polished WSF specifically: it's relatively inexpensive, and the polishing process removes most of the roughness. I do have to be a little less generous with the detailing to compensate.

FYI, these are the polishing stones Shapeways uses. I think they're 4mm Dia.

I bought a tumbler to try doing some polishing of my own prints, but haven't found a good medium yet.

Any idea what material they are? It's a very helpful lead as it is!
