Some initial help with customizing—I need the basics.

For my patent pending, copyrighted idea of Bot Shots Bruticus, I need a little help on basics of customization. I need two main points as a reference:

—What paints are good for beginning work? I don't need fine detail or picture-perfect colors, but I want something that will stick, not chip, and not slide.

—What is the procedure and tools required for removing a pin?

I've looked on Google, and will continue, but I'd like some help from the 2005 people.
