Question about primer

I noticed that after applying several mist coats of primer that small gray spots appear when it begins to dry. Is this normal?

Is the primer you're using not supposed to be grey?

Because most are light grey, some are white. They're supposed to be a neutral base for you to paint over, covering up any color underneath, aside from being a better way for having paint adhere.

yeah, its flat gray, but it developed little dark gray spots after drying. I thought I did something wrong.

That was my question as well.

If it is, chuck it in the bin.

Did you wash the figure well before applying the primer? If not, the oils left on the figure can make primer or paint do that.

How does it feel when dry? Does the primer seem tacky or sticky to you? If so, the air temperature might have something to do with it...or it's just old.

I'm thinking that it may be old, as you said. The company that I ordered from had it on sell. I sprayed the figure with degreaser, wearing gloves, then washed it in soapy water before rinsing and allowing a day or two to dry.

I can't think of anything else that I should have done.

Try some Dupli-Color self etching primer. I swear by it. It's pretty cheap too!
