ANother way to make grids. If you go to the view tab and click on show grids. it will give you grid lines. Than you just make another layer, and trace over the grid lines. Works great, perfect square, plus you can see how many squares will it take.

Custom boxes for download!! Awesome idea.

I will gladly add some of the ones that I'm planning on doing. Does TFW2005 host the files? If so then where do I send them?

If not then I like Blue Meanies idea (you could corner your own little slice of the TF customizing scene). It doesn't have to be a super sofisticated site - just a repository.

Either way, I'll contribute. I've got a shattered glass prime box in the works that I'd look forward to providing to others as a free download.

Just make a thread in Radicons Discussion, and attach the file to it. we'll take care of editing these things into tutorials.

For the carded figures like the cassettes, the grid area should be 24 across and 25 down. I could be wrong but I counted one on ebay last night when I was tired. I did mine and it worked really well. I will post pics of it tomorrow after I put it on card stock.

EDIT: I also have alot of pics that might be helpful for everyone trying to do the boxes. Let me know if any of ya'll need them.

Well you know what would be great also. If anyone has any cardbacks or boxes, that they would not mine scanning from original hasbro. Would help out alot for those people trying to make there own. Be alot easier in touching them up. All you have to do is scanned them using DPI instead of image. Works great, get actual size of the cardback or box.

Blue Meanie How you do the tabs for the boxes?

Here is a G1 box I made. I also made g1 style instruction for the figure.
Let me know what everyone thinks?

It looks awesome, but I noticed one thing it looks like you made the back of the box with the combined length of the front, Top Flap, AND the top of the box. You omit the top of the box from the measurement, so its only the top flap and front. Your image will look a lot nicer too because you won't have to stretch it. Print a mini one on 8.5 x 11 paper and fold it up to double check.

Yeah, i notice that. This is Just something i was playing with before you came out with the tutorial. I use the Jap g1 box style for the minibots. i was also thinking I making commerative series for the minibots, but using the size of a dvd box. That way each minibot could have there own box.

Valguerra, that box looks awesome. I'm making one for the upgraded Cliffjumper. Im almost done with it and I will post a pic.

Blue Meanie, I have to say, the tutorial is amazing. It has opened up a world of cool crap for me to do and a whole bunch of annoyance for my wife. She "Thanks" you alot.

    Thanks

I've made a nice excelsheet to calculate my box size. I can also see where to put the ruler lines in Photoshop. Here's a pic. I'ts easy to make and you won't miscalculate. The one in the pic is for my custom US/JAP Raiden giftset box. You can see the ruler lines in the second pic.
I also put all the intl paper sizes in it, so I can see what size it has to be print on.

This is really sweet. I plan to utilize this into some of my customs for sure!

Also, anyone happen to know off hand if Kinkos or another large format type printer place can print the main image onto a cardboard type material, preferably gloss finish?
