I was talking with DeeJay and we were discussing swapping out parts for sideswipe and sunstreaker to make tigertrack and sunstreaker (diaclone).
Our problem was popping out the pins for the arms to switch the doors, since we couldn't get to the screws.

    Then I discovered something...

Grab the arm in one hand and the door in the other and simply pull.

that's it. It's a plug/snap fitting with a screw in the middle. nothing more.

    save yourselves hours of pin-popping!

    :banghead:

He finds this out after I spend a couple hours of fun with my custom pin-popper...

Anyway. They're almost done. Anyone experimented with the hood/bonnet pin?

I don't understand why you can't just switch the heads, swap the fists and be done.

Because Tigertrack is yellow and white, not yellow and grey

Also, the crotch paintapps are geared toward which side faces forward. So even if you left the grey with the yellow and the white with the red, the crotches look awkward.

    And nobot wants awkwardcrotch.

I can't believe you didn't think to check if the doors popped off first, it always looked like they could before as I'm familiar with the type of joint they used.

Of course, Tigertrack (or Sunstreaker, as I call him :p ) should have silver arms anyway if you're going for any kind of G1 accuracy...

OH! You don't know who I'm talking about then. My bad!

    Tigertrack at TFU.info

Freaking sweet article about the G2 Sideswipe we ALMOST had. Halfway down, you see pictures of the 1974 DIACLONE yellow sideswipe mold - not Tigertrack, the 2003 Takara TF e-Hobby reissue.

Red Diakron Sunstreaker :)  Note that while the car is red and black... the head has the yellow paint apps. I'm telling you, Hasbro TOTALLY did their homework on Sideswipe and Sunstreaker and their Diaclone ancestry for this line.

Just for fun, I call an eventual police type redeco of the classics2 mold

I know exactly who you're talking about - I said I call him Sunstreaker, due to the whole pre-release bio-switching theory I go by. ;)
I plan on doing exactly the same mods once I can get hold of a Sideswipe; except I also want to switch that parts under the bonnets, as you mentioned. I've also painted 'Streaker's feet and forearms silver.

And yeah, I want the police deco too. I might need to pick up an extra couple of 'Streakers for Red Alert and that fella.

Okay, then I don't know what you're talking about   But I want to. Tell me more about this theory of yours.

Yeah, I should take this moment to give a big shout-out to Hasbro. Despite the hood pin, you went the extra mile to make most pieces easily swappable or removable. This toy would be ranked in the Ten Best Hasbro TF Designs, if such a list existed :)
