Im thinking about getting myself an air brush to do some painting with.. Any suggestions or links to a good deal for one ? I found a few doing a google search for a full kit for 80$ , it included a stainless gravity feed gun and compressor and the hose .. What ones work better , gravity feed or the kind with the glass jar below the gun ?

Im not looking to spend too much because i dont do many repaints and i never airbrushed before lol .. So a beginner kit would be good lol. Also can you use Testors Acrylic Paints with it ? Or is there a better paint ? ANd last question , has anyone ever added metal flake to the paint to get a matalic look or do you add that to the clear coat ?

Any Help or suggestions would be great   Thanks in advance .

$80 for all that sounds too good to be true. If you want a good quality starter airbrush, pick up an Iwata Eclipse. They're about $100 and have teflon packings allowing you to use any kind of paint you want. When selecting an airbrush, make sure it's got a dual action trigger and preferably a gravity feed. (Siphon feeds splatter quite a bit and take longer to change colours)

You can add metallic to the clearcoat but if you add too much, it could mottle on you or muddy up the actual colour.

For a compressor, just get one of them Walmart jobbies for $50 and throw a regulator on it. (Not the mini tire pumps, an actual compressor)

Should you make this purchase, you may find airbrushing to be quite fun and having good quality tools from step 1 will elimanate having to upgrade later.

Im not looking to spend over 100 to 120 on this because i have no clue how to air brush and i may not be any good at it lol , so i would like to just find a beginner kit to start with and if i find it easy to use ill move on to the better stuff lol.. I think i would only be using acrylic paints with it becuase it's pretty much all i use now for my repaints .. I like them for there easy cleanup and you dont have to smell the thinners and brush cleaners lol .

Is that Kit any good ya think ?

 

Holy crap, that looks like a decent setup. Even has a quick coupler. Seems it's got everything a d00d would need to spray any type of finish too.

 

By that reaction i guess its a good deal lol.. I may have to break down and buy it then and start learning how to use lol.
