Has anyone tried repainting 2 bots from another Energon combiner in the neon green and purple colors and attaching them to Classics Devastator? I was wondering if the pegs for the combiners were the same, and if there were a few other bots in those other combiners whose molds could pass for contructicons.

The pegs are the same. I did opposite of the package and made both dozers arms and then both cranes as legs so I know that part works. I wonder if tamiya makes that neon green paint as it would be a good idea...

The connectors are the same in all the Energon combiners.

Considering that all but one of the other Energon limbs are aircraft, it would be hard to make them work as Constructicons. You might be able, with heavy modification, to turn one of the tank molds into a properly-treaded Bonecrusher. Other than that, your best bet for distinguishing the Constructicons would be to remove the crane from one of the crane-trucks and replace it with a cement mixer. People HAVE done that, with nice results.... though I don't have the links to their work at the tip of my fingers. I would just search this forum for "Devastator."

Actually, if you want to see a fantastic custom based on the Energon combiners, look for Manyoufacture's version of Bruticus. He heavily modified limbs from all three sets, and the result is stunning.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words, WhiteMocha.

I wish I could do to Devastator, what I did with Bruticus.

I have played with the idea of how to make Devy into a six, or more, piece combiner, like the origonal.
One version has the two cranes, belly to belly, to form the torso but a second set of connectors would have to be added. (it would also require a third crane as a cement mixer leg.)

I have also, briefly, tried to figure how to have an origonal configuration but also add a seventh vehicle as the hip thighs. (a pavement roller vehicle) but, again, the crane would need a second connector for both arms to connect and a way to connect to the dumptruck.

As far as vehicles for a classics Devy with existing figures. Kickback or Blight could be made into a digging vehicle (right arm) with the addition of a digging arm.
Also making one of the cranes as a cement mixer, again.
Then just use Sledge, Wideload and Steamhammer as the other three figures (or what ever they are named for the Classics Devy).

    Good luck

I found another classics devy at my local walmart, they had about 7 of them left which is really weird and I never saw them in any other walmart even when they were out. I took all the green limbs and now have an all green devy. You may wonder what I did with the other set, well it's going to be my first custom repaint. My fiancee loves devastator but is a princess at heart. So Mrs Devy is going to be black, pink and purple. I just started painting today after taking them all apart and getting the paint off. Will post pics when I get finished.

hey many have you considered bashing one backhoe into a dumptruck for longhaul as the sixth member of the team?

i m sure it would be possible to attach the guy to devastator's back for the combiner form by simply salvaging a combiner tach stud from a parts figure and epoxy gluing it into a centered position on the folding panel that folds up between the steam shovels treads to hide scavengers head in robot mode

at least i think the craneshovels name is scavenger when they rereleased constructicon maximus for the classics line
