    I have a Nikon D5100.
If I walk around, outside in natural light, I can take about 600 pictures before I need to recharge the battery.

If I set up the light box with strong lights on a white background, I get about 100 pictures before the battery dies. (no flash)

Why is this? Are my lights to strong and the image so over exposed the camera has to work harder to balance the image? I have it on ISO 100.

Its just a random curiosity, but I figure someone here may know the answer. Thanks!

That's pretty strange. Maybe try setting the White Balance to a specific setting, rather than on Auto. Still, I wouldn't think there would be THAT much difference (losing 83% battery power).
