Hey all, I'd like some advice with how to proceed on this project.

Being that this is one of my favorite TFs and in my eyes underappreciated, I thought I'd take a stab at trying to make it more screen accurate. So far, I've sanded down the entire car and I've mismatched onto this TF parts from TFTM new Camaro BB, HFTD BB, and DOTM BB. I sanded down the sides of the new head and shaved more area for it to fit in properly. Unfortunately, I've currently hit a "writer's block" with how to continue on the feet area and implement the front car arch and side panel in a manner to give BB his wing look on his back.

Seeing as how I am a novice and only armed with an X-Acto knife, sandpaper, and metal cutting pliers, please recommend other tools or potential methods/designs with how to create hinges/pivots to still make this BB accurate and transformable. Thanks for looking, and till all are one!

    Ambitious project you got there!

I'm no pro by any means, but have you considered mounting the lower doors straight off the upper doors? I cant figure out how to do the conversion without resorting to partsforming, and i dont know your stance on that topic.

Are you having clearance issues with his elbows in alt mode, or is the photo angle playing tricks with me?

As im not familiar with this mold I'm not sure of you plan with his feet. Could you expand on that please? Maybe some more pics of the feet areas?

    Good luck with your project!

Thanks for the feedback Drohitan! Do you mean soldering/attaching the lower door panel with the actual door? I rather not resort to partsforming, as I want to capture BB's wing look in the back.

At the current moment, I am. The old piece was held onto the arm via screw connection, so I need to work on shaving down the part. I also need to develop a method to create a pivot or connect it to another part to still allow the figure to transform.

For the feet area, I didn't like the blockiness of using his car parts as the actual foot. Since I have other Bumblebee's, I want to kind of "graft" it on there like this person did. If you have any other suggestions/feedback/questions, don't hesitate to let me know! :)

Yeah, I understand that in doing so the lower wings won't be closer to the middle as you would prefer, but it may be your only option as (going by the pics) I cant see how to connect it where you want in robot mode while leaving clearance for the upper arms. Alternatively you could just glue the two pieces of his door together and use some of his roof kibble as his lower wings, seeing it appears as though they line up closer to his lower spine when in altmode. It may be easier to fabricate a mechanism/balljoint assembly there instead. If that tickles your fancy please do close examination before you cut. I dont want to wreck your project on some bad advice, k?

I'd suggest swapping the upper arm sections from left to right, they angle inward so you may get more clearance for the car doors. You may run into other clearance issues, but it's a reversible pop-n-swap so theres no harm in trying?

Those look like great toe mods. Run with that.

If those fender pieces were glued straight onto the windshield/door assembly, would there be enough clearance to transform, or would that interfere?

If I had either a computer or a paint app on my phone I'd try to explain visually too, but alas I hope my wording is descriptive enough.
