I have a project I've been planning out for awhile, a new custom CW combiner to go with my custom Computron. I was going to try using the existing heads and Apoxee Sculpt, but then I found Tinkercad and decided to take a shot at making new heads that will fit the characters better. I haven't printed anything out yet, but I wanted to post what I have done and get some feedback on them. Please take a look, let me know what you think, what I should change, what I should be on the look out for.

First up, my take on a head for CW Headstrong

It's designed to fit on CW First Aid's body, so I turned his horn into a forehead crest to keep it within the allowable space but still call back to his original rhino mode.

I had to carve out a bit under the visor to make sure there was room for the ball joint to enter.

Next, Tantrum, designed for CW Ironhide's body

I had a hard time with faces. I built this one entirely by accident, and couldn't remember how I made it, so I ended up using it on most of these. I tried making a defined mouth, but just couldn't get it to look right, so they get cartoonish grimaces instead :p

Next, Divebomb designed for CW Airraid

I'm not entirely sold on this one, I may go back and try again. I'm trying for a helmet that calls back to the eagle head, but I'm having a hard time with complex curved surfaces.

Here's Rampage, designed for CW Dragstrip's body

I think this is my favorite of the group. I based it on some IDW comic scans I found (I don't read the comics, so I'm not sure which book they came from). Just now realized I forgot to add the cylinder on the inside that pushes against the ball joint.

And finally, Razorclaw, designed to fit on Motormaster's body

I used my G1 Razorclaw and a digital caliper to build this one. It's roughly the same size as Battle Core Prime's head, so should fit on Motormaster. Had the same problem with the visor and ball joint socket as I did on Headstrong, and dealt with it in the same manner.

So, yep, vehicular Predacons. I already have a head for the combiner mode that looks like it will work well, so I won't be making my own. These are the first complex models, so I've tried to learn as much as I can studying how Hasbro's heads are structured and design ideas used by other Shapeways designers for their heads. Please let me know what you think, and thanks for taking a look.

Yep, I'm planning to use the wings from a Zoids Buster Eagle (a popular choice, my Google searching shows me) with some parts from a Bionicle Onua set, paired up with the PC-08w Perfect Combiner set.

This thing's been expensive to piece together :p

This is a pretty awesome project. Are you going to do vehicular Dinobot heads as well?

    Thanks :)

I hadn't really thought about that. I have a couple more figures planned out after these, but who knows after that.

My only feedback would be to watch out for the wall thicknesses; I can see a couple of points on Headstrong (around the top of the nose/bottom of the forehead crest) where the wall thickness is too thin to be printable.

Other than that, they look good, keep it up! :D

Sorry, I get sidetracked easily :p

I ran a sample print of the Divebomb and Rampage heads. Divebomb fit fine, but was too tall and sat too high to allow transformation, and the wall thickness on the ball joint socket was just a bit too thin. It snapped when I tried to remove the head.

Rampage's head is supposed to go on Dragstrip's body, but it turns out I measured the ball joint wrong. Instead of the standard 4mm, it's something like 4.2mm, and the head split down the middle trying to get it on :p

I've tweaked the heads some, so hopefully they'll fit now. Once I get some money free, I'll print another test.

Got my second round of prints today, and they look like they'll work better this time. The pics don't show the detail very well, paint should bring them out. The eye holes are a little tight, so I may tweak those later. But these should work for me.

I almost have Rampage all painted up, so next you see these will be over in the customs section. Thanks for everyone's input:)
