Okay so I was just surfing around the internet and then came across something called '3D printing'.

Is anyone here familiar with that?

Apparently I can "print" my own transformers?
    Example: https://pinshape.com/items/7431-3d-printed-autobot-x-action-master-style

Love to hear from someone who has some experience in this genre.

PS: Prepare to be bombarded by super noob questions ;)  (Okay I'll PM you ha!

I'm not one of the illustrious 3d printers on this site (of which there are a few), but I can try and get us started.

3D printing is a technique to create a 3 dimensional object from plastic (or if you're really rich, metal) using deposited plastic droplets placed by a printer head moving back and forth, left and right, and up and down. Makerbots are a good example:

3D Printing Resources and Tools | MakerBot

It's not just Transformers you can make, but basically anything, though there are limitations currently as to what sorts of shapes the printer can handle in terms of complexity.

You rig the machine up to your computer, transfer over design files made in a 3d modelling program like SolidEdge or AutoCAD, and the machine does the rest.

Right now, a lot of 3D printers on this site make things like weapons, heads, small parts, clips and joints and such. Some have even gone as far as small (minicon and cyberverse sized) Transformers.

If you dont have a 3d printing machine, there are services, like shapeways

Shapeways - 3D Printing Service and Marketplace

That will print your stuff for you from a design size. Some libraries and public services also offer machines rentable by the hour.

Hasbro itself has even sort of gotten into the 3d printing game:

My Little Pony by Super Fans for SuperFanArt - Shapeways

So far it looks like its limited to ponies.

    Does that help at all?
