Hi, Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I wasn't sure if the Radicons area was for general conversation like this.....please move if necessary. So my question is: I'd like to attempt an Alternator Trailbreaker, and I've been researching online how to do so, and have seen some amaaaaazing projects by all you talented peeps. However, the one thing I can't figure out is, what is the best base to start with? Alternators Nemesis Prime, or a Binaltech Nemesis Prime? Furthermore, can diecast be painted? I can't tell how you got the various parts of this figure into the appropriate colors. Take this picture for example: I wouldn't mind mine looking like this when completed. Is there a tutorial I can follow to help me with this project? I've already sourced a Reprolabels sheet thanks to a fellow board member....but after that, I'm lost at what to do. lol ANY advice is appreciated. Thanks.
If i remember correctly, thats BT Nemesis (or Scourge? Cant Remember) American version had red windows You could always get the american version and just swap pieces with a regular Optimus... And just paint those Also, if im not mistaken, there was a Metal Black Optimus KO available years ago
Hummer mold would be better suited. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/265801-alternator-trailbreaker-hummer-binaltech.html
hmmmm, thanks for the advice....however it still leaves me with a ton of questions about the project itself. From the picture I posted, can you tell what was done? What is painted? What is swapped out? etc etc...
Alright, i saw the thread earlier on my phone, now i can see clearly that Custom Whoever did it, used American Nemesis as a base (you can see the rear red window on the waist). I dont think there´s any extra paint at all. Seems, he covered all the teal details on the base figure with stickers (such as forearms, and legs), as well used other stickers as details (im guessing that was from the Reprolabels kit) The head was adapted from Alternators Swindle, with a custom piece from the G1 Trailbreaker. Most likely, you need to remove it for transformation The BT Hummer KO is great for a custom Trailbreaker (I did one), but the Ram matches better with the details of the G1 figure, and needs more work, as painting, sanding, fitment to make it displayable
I used the Jeep mold for my Trailbreaker, as the Swindle retool was originally designed for it until the demand for more Deceptions came in.
There you go. Hummer was derived from the jeep mold as you can tell. Rollbar would probably be the cheaper way to do a better Trailbreaker too.
Here's mine: Trailbreaker (SWv2) - Alternators - Binaltech Customs - TFW2005.COM Digibash by me from the original Takara design artwork (note the "TRAILBREAKER" designation underlined from the original artwork, noting the original intentions with the mold)
Outstanding, thanks for clearing up some of those base questions I had! I was able to get a Reprolabels set from a board member, so hopefully that will take care of some of the "paint" issues that I was wondering about. I also watched the leg mod that shows how to extend them a bit. I guess all I need now is a Swindle head? edit: I'm not sure why so many people like the Jeep as a Trailbreaker, although everyone's mod work on it is great, I see absolutely zero resemblance to Trailbreaker.
I have a custom Trailbreaker head that I got from a 3rd party add-on site years ago. I'm happy to part with it. It's moulded in grey plastic but I believe it's already sized to fit on BT/Alt Nemesis Prime correctly. I can take a photo if you're interested.
I'm very interested actually, if you could throw some pics up, or PM me with them, that would help greatly! Thanks man! I appreciate it.
