I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but I figure it's a creative question so, maybe? Haha.

Anyway, I've always been curious about the third-party figures and the process that takes them from concept to retail product. I don't know if anyone has ever done a write-up on the actual process but I'm curious what the average length of time is from drawing to completed figure, what kind of costs are involved in developing a product and what other sort of miscellany is involved in the process.

Now that I think about it, this most likely is in the wrong place in the creative forums so, if this would be better placed somewhere else then please do mods. Thanks!

It is, thank you! I searched for it first but nothing came up with what I ended up looking for. I guess I wasn't exhaustive enough haha.
