Was trying to remove his chest to take a look at the red hinge parts. Theres 2 screws on the underside. I removed them but nothing budged. I wiggled a couple flathead screwdrivers in between the halves, but no dice. I'm afraid to pry too hard, cuz the plastic is a bit soft, and I don't wanna scratch up his nice shiny paintjob.

Anybody have better luck than me? Any pointers?

This figure wasn't meant to come apart. I tried stripping it down as far as I could and it was a total bitch.
The chest has male/female plugs inside that almost seem glued together, plus the upper pin, plus a tongue-in-groove at the base. I ended up cutting it off since what I did made it necessary.
Most of the figure is assembled with pins, with the screws being more like support.

On top of that, the pelvis is held together by the crotch plate pin, the forearms have a pin that won't allow them to separate, the cannon can't be removed without more pin-popping, the treads are behind pins...
Yeah, not fun to disassemble. On the plus side, it's a solid figure.

I got the forearm apart. He has a screw at the elbow, and another screw near the wrist on the opposite side of the elbow screw. Never saw that before...

I just split the cannon in half. No pin pushing for me.

Can you elaborate on how you opened up his arm cannon? I haven't tried yet, but any pointers in advance are always appreciated.

I'm wondering if I can add some sort of hinging in there so the turret cannon can raise & lower in tank mode...

Ok. I bit the bullet & cracked open Megatrons chest. There's an overlapping clip at the bottom of the chest that helps hold it together. Once I saw that, I carefully pried it apart with a tiny flathead screwdriver. That opened it up enough that I could peek inside & see a bunch of peg-and-posts holding it together. I broke a couple, but I got the chest apart completely! All I really wanted to see was if that red bar across the top of the chest was totally necessary. The chest piece only needs a little piece on each end to function, and the rest is just there to keep the hinge as a single molded piece. So it's not totally necessary. So I left a bit at each end & chopped the rest off. Then I put it all back together. It left an empty groove area, so I used an old spare silvery gray plastic sprue piece & jammed it in there. Looks pretty good IMO. That's 1 problem down lol.

I also painted his redneck gray. Paint doesn't want to hold very well to that kind of plastic. But as long as I'm not touching it, it should be fine.

I also swapped inner forearms with my armada Megatron. Painted the purple elbow corner red. Now he has silver forearms.
