I'm actually in a similar boat. I have puty and want to be able to sculpt stuff. So I've done some preliminary research on how. The two videos that have given me a couple good tips for this stuff are these.

Basically the best way to learn to sculpt is to just do it and do it a LOT! I'm sure there are much better videos on how to learn to sculpt. Like I said I've only done preliminary sniffing around. But the essence is to start small and copy.

My current plan of attack when I get to learning is to grab some regular clay, pick up some of those tools, and a spare head or something. I intend to analyze in minute detail that head and recreate it in the regular clay. Then I intend to do it again. And again. And again. Then move on to a different head. And again. And again. With any big project or learning experience you really have to take the big picture and break it into small chunks and goals.

Goobahead, over the years you've asked numerous questions to which the answer is always, just get out there and try it. This is another one of those. We're both going to fail but failing is what teaches us as a species.

So keep doing it. Practice and practice and practice. Every great sculptor or designer or singer or what ever. All of them started off as a novice at some point. Determination and practice are what turn novices into professionals.

    Pro-tip:

Practice on clay, sculpey or even play dough

And when about to attempt something do it in one of the aforementioned mediums first then once you have it how you like (because you wont have a time limit) replicate it in apoxie sculpt

Hope this helps, practice makes perfect!
