Looking at all of the Combiner Wars figures, I was thinking about making customs of the Vehicon Generals from Beast Machines, as in:
    1. Tankor
    2. Thrust
    3. Jetstorm
    4. Obsidian
    5. Strika

I was thinking about what figures would fit each General the best, and came up with something like:
    • Hot Spot modified into Tankor, with tracks instead of wheels, and a cannon instead of a ladder. This would make him the biggest Vehicon, as in the show, but it might not look that much like him. It would also make him the torso of the combiner.
    • Rook into Strika. This would be pretty easy, as both transform into 6 wheeled vehicles, so all Rook would need is a new head, and maybe weapons, to be Strika.
    • Jetstorm is a bit tricky, as none of the Aerialbot jets look that much like his jet form. However, I'm partial to a modified Air Raid, as I think his jet mode looks the coolest. It would have to be modified to have swept forward wings, and a new head, obviously.
    • Obsidian is another tricky one, as I think Alpha Bravo, in spite of being a helicopter, does not look quite right. However, he also has missile arms, like the original Obsidian toy, so there is potential. Another option is to modify Firefly, with a new wing section.
    • Finally, we have Thrust, who could only be made from Legends class Groove. Because of this, he is now the combiner chest plate. But, this fits, as he is seen to be the smallest of the Vehicon Generals.

Some of you might have noticed that there are only five members of this team, one of whom is the chest plate, so the resulting combiner is missing a limb. I've made plans for this, and it includes a non show, but still canon character named Blastcharge. I was thinking for him use Off Road, with a new backpack, and maybe an extra set of wheels, in order to make a six wheeled APC that is different from Strika.

But wait, what about Megatron? Wouldn't he want to get in on this combining action? Well, that is something to think about, and there are, in my mind, two possibilities: Either have him replace Tankor as the torso, but keep the rest, and have Tankor not combined some of the time, or have Megs as the torso, but replace Blastcharge with Tankor. In either case, I think Megatron could be made out of Silverbolt, either as a futuristic jet with a dragon motif, or as an actual dragon.

So, what do you guys think? I currently don't have the resources to tackle this project, so if anyone decides to do this, could you please credit me?

CW Cyclonus into Jestorm, wait for the semi-confirmed Brawl/ Nosecone to come out and make them into Tankor, Rook into Strika, Groove into Thrust, and Offroad into Blast Charge.

saves work, since CW cyclonus looks a lot like Jetstorm and Brawl's gonna have treads.

I think I like that idea. If there were a way to transform Hot Spot so that his legs could fold up beside or underneath the alt mode, all the better. I guess if his legs were remolded into treads you could make them able to transform differently, though I suspect that kind of engineering needs to be factored in with the original mold so it might not be possible for an official release.
Still, I like the shapes. The forearms remind me of the Mega figure if you turn Hot Spot around. Hot Spot's ladder turret could easily be modified to be the tank turret, and even possibly the robot's head.

... of course, Tankor bought it around halfway through, and Jetstorm got converted ... huh, a little later. Megatron got into Grand Mal in the previous episode. Strika and Obsidian don't come online until AFTER that, so... canonically they wouldn't be together. Though I don't know if that matters. You could make 5 main generals + Megatron torso + 2 intermediate replacements for whichever early or late group you want to use.

Megatron could {, like the gestalt Galvatron head on CW Cyclonus,} just be the combined mode.
or he could be yet another Legends figure, a new mold version of Megabolt that head-masters on.
I wonder if Silverbolt's arms can be used as gerwalk dragon legs in alt mode.

I don't know about Blastcharge though. He's so odd, and it would be so much easier to just make him from Rook/Strika. I guess the lanky arms match at the very least.

Why not Mirage or Spy Streak? I guess for a land/air balance air would be preferable if it's the 5 main generals.

Mirage might be easiest from Drag Strip. Yellow robot parts, clear blue everything else, paint over the clear blue with the steely blue-grey in most of the alt mode. {Uhg. That sounds expensive. There's more silver and yellow paint apps as well.} Give him two of Dead End's pipe weapons, which would be perfect.

Obsidian... Yeah. Alpha Bravo would be challenging for that. The remolds have been quite extensive so far, but I almost feel like a reshelling would be just as easy if you made Alpha Bravo's alt mode front into Obsidian's alt mode back, to get the dual propellers closer to the front and then the cockpit

I guess we have time to figure it out and decide, since Rook won't be out for a while.

I think I'd rather have a Megatron torso than another Jetstorm that dwarfs Tankor.
