I would have liked Beast Wars to have done a little better. And I'm also surprised that shitty Wolverine book sold so well.

Why is Astonishing X-Men so high? Whedon's a 1 arc guy. The first was great, the rest have been complete letdowns, and just awful.

Im not suprised by those numbers at all. the marvel and DC zombies would buy anything either company put out. If Geoff Johns took a dump on a piece of paper. there would be fans who would buy it.

Wolverine Origins was awful. I bought it because it was in my stack at the shop. After trying to read it, uncanny xmen, and x-men I promptly dropped about half my subscriptions because the marvel X-books stink, and have stunk for a long time. I should have dropped my uncanny subscription five years ago...

I still enjoy Astonishing, it's really lost it's magic since the first arc though. But this newest arc is much, much better than dangerous... not saying much though.

I swear that they put something in the ink of X-Men books. It took about 2 years of rot like Search for Xavier, Apocalypse Twelve and the 6 months jump to finally get me off the habit.

What's so surprising? It's a first issue. It's got Wolverine (probably a reason why New Avengers gets the high orders it does, too, along with Spider-Man and Bendis). People usually order the first issue just to see what it's like, then decide if they want to continue reading it or not, and the retailers adjusts future orders.

The only thing that would be surprising is if it continues to outsell New Avengers by... I dunno, #12 or something (assuming it goes for that long).

You might want to wait at least until July to give up completely on the X-books. That's when Ed Brubaker and Mike Carey take over Uncanny & adjectiveless, respectively.
