I said it on facebook and I'll say it here Boba Fett solo series or GTFO.

I'm surprised it took this long though I expected them to start making comics sooner after Disney bought them.

Fuck that. Dark Horse has been handling their comics better than Marvel for a few years now.

I remember when Marvel first published Star Wars comics.

    Anyone remember Crimson Jack?

Good, they can retcon or erase that awful Legacy comic saga.

There were already a few Fett mini-series, and they were very 2000AD style. I loved them.

Ugh, I loved the concept, absolutely loathed the execution.

Been expecting this since it was announced Disney bought Starwars.

Which one was the Legacy comic saga? Is that the original screenplay comic?

I find that intriguing, but never picked it up.

Sad but inevitable. How long is it going to take for Disney to realise that they need a dedicated comics outfit to exploit their IP that just shares the overheads with Marvel instead of handing it all to a bunch of dudes that have little to no clue or interest in reaching anyone beyond the direct market spandex crowd?

Ironic that comics were the one place you could dependably find good Star Wars during the prequel era and now there's a good chance that they're going to pot just as the rest of the franchise seems to be heading back in the right direction.

No, Legacy was the one set like 150 years after ROTJ where the main character was a grimdark descendant of skywalker addicted to drugs while jedi ghosts told him to kick the habit and the empire was now a medieval style feudal state with a corps of stormtrooper jedi knights.

As long as were talking Star Wars, anyone read "The Star Wars" comic based on the original screenplay?

And there were tons of Sith, most of them aside from 3, all were red for some reason and there was some godawfull designs and oh, God, I loathe those comics.

I'm still surprised they would let Dark Horse fold just like that. The obvious thing for Disney to do is buy Dark Horse. Instead everyone here thinks Disney likes to take franchises away from other companies and give it to an entity they own.

That makes no sense to buy Dark Horse. They own Star Wars. They own Marvel Comics. It makes perfect sense. They're also giving Dark Horse plenty of time to wrap up current story lines as well.

The contract was probably up & Disney didn't offer to renew it. Not like there is anything DH could do anything about it. At least they know how much time is left to properly wrap up stories. Nothing says some of the writers/artists won't be offered positions at Marvel working on their Star Wars comics.

I think we all know Episode 7 is going to nuke post-ROTJ continuity. Having comics published by a company owned by the same company producing the new movies might mean they will get more info how the new continity will be so they can write stories that will fit with whatever Ep7 is.

Yes, I have the first two issues and they are really fun. They aren't breaking new storytelling ground, obviously, but it's really fun to see the artists and authors interpret this "alternate" Star Wars. They even have notes and concepts in the back of the issues.

I also really like Star Wars Legacy, for what it's worth. I've only read the first two omnibuses so far. To me it's kind of also an alternate universe...the main EU line extending from the films lost my interest many years ago. Though I do recommend "Darth Plagueis."

Godspeed to Dark Horse and Marvel, both. I look forward to Legacy being complete so I can get all those books and have a complete saga (two I guess with the relaunch).

EDIT: For anyone who was turned off Legacy by the druggie Skywalker and the cheesier Sith designs, I can only say I totally understand, and in fact I was totally with you when the series was first coming out. What can I say though, it's a good solid read. The distance from the films lets it tell its own mythic story rather than a side-story, but adds in the weight of history by referencing all the stuff that came before like Vongforming and the old Sith Lords. And a couple stupid designs doesn't negate the cool story they are telling with the "One Sith." At the point I'm at now it is starting to chase its own tail slightly but I'm still on board for now. I like what I perceive to be the over-arcing theme: how can a bunch of incredibly cynical people get what they want when the universe itself, through the Force, keeps trying to shove them into high fantasy roles of hero, villain, scoundrel, etc.? So far, the answer seems to be that they get caught up in the myth, but they're REALLY angry about it. :lol

What really annoyed me about the Legacy comics I did read was the Empire was again in control of the galaxy. Same Empire since there were Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers & TIE fighters. Makes all of what Han/Luke/Leia went through pointless. They should have just come up with some new enemy. But EU has shown that is is pretty lazy about designs. There was also that video game set thousands of years ago which looked like slightly modified Clone Wars designs. Thousands of years apart but no new designs.

The EU is 99.99998898% garbage anyway. I cannot wait for the nuking to begin.
