Don't forget the very quickly aborted movie looks for mystique and sabertooth. Think those lasted for all of two months.

I took one look at it and thought it looked a lot like the Ultimates 2 Captain America outfit which admittedly inspired the First Avenger combat outfit if you haven't seen it before take a look this someone else's take on the Bryan Hitch design

I loved the ultimates 2 outfit but imo the first avenger prototype and findal design surpassed it so I hope we get something very close to it for First Avenger 2

So what's the point of AvX anymore? It seems Marvel has spoiled that series before it's even finished, as we now know the Avengers and X-Men are at least on good enough terms to make teams with each other and so far, there seem to be no major casualties.

I wish they'd at least let the current event end before hyping up the next big one.

Quotes like that spoil the event before it's even over.

I loved his original one, and his original X-Factor "costume" wasn't bad either. Too bad they couldn't do something closer to those outfits.

I've long felt that a "Modern" Marvel U started with Grant Morrisons Xmen & Avengers dissassembled. This was a fresh jumping on point, relativly free from continuity of the previous years, this lead to a block of story that went through Siege & X-men Schism. I think it took Marvel a little longer but they realized it too, and that a fresh block was needed.(given what a disaster Fear Itself was) I think Marvel U is designed to intentionally be what was less deliberatly done 8 years ago. and while AvX may have been a forced Mess if it leads to fresh jumping on point without a reboot then OK!

They seem to be doing it roughly every ten years. 10 years before that it was the Chris Claremont/Jim Lee/Whilce Portacio X-Men relaunch, while Avengers in a strange coincidence, had a storyline concerning the Scarlet Witch also going crazy during that span of time as well as a team reshuffling and new members being recruited, although their line relaunch along with the FF actually started around 98 or so with Heroes Return.

Yeah, I've seen solicits that sometimes spoil current running stories, but not to this scale. I mean, AvX was Marvel's Summer event, right? Well, you can drop it right now, because things will be fine between the Avengers and X-Men when Marvel NOW launches.

The thing is, don't most comic events end up with the characters ending up unscathed anyway? In most cases, the event is just the ride for them to return to a "somewhat changed but not really" playing field.

I think the problem with Havok is that they keep trying to recapture the simple yet iconic look of the Neal Adams costume but at the same time update it with more greebling. The thing that worked so well in the original costume was that it was so simple - just a black bodysuit and a somewhat fancy headdress - trying to make it more complex just takes away from what worked about it.

And as far as Marvel spoiling the end of AvX, did anyone really expect them not to? Marvel's been spoiling their own major events and plot twists for years now (they've also been arbitrarily relaunching books for about as long, which makes this whole Marvel Now! thing a lot less impressive).

Agreed. I love the original costume. Ah well, sadly, relaunches often dictate costume changes, and in this day and age, it means more merchandise sales opportunities.

I'm looking forward to the Marvel relaunch only because the creators they've lined up for the Avengers books are impressive. They've been mediocre for so long and have wandered aimlessly since Bendis took over, only serving as a launchpad for crossover events or fighting some street level crook they should wipe the floor with easily (I mean seriously, Osborn and the Hood for years?). The only credible threat I see lined up is Ultron, and even then, Bendis just spends so much time telling us how unbeatable he is, instead of showing us, that at this point, I fully expect some Deus Ex Machina to beat him. I can't wait to see them return to being Earth's Mightiest Heroes instead of the "Let's wait for the bad guy to come after us" Avengers. Sadly, things don't seem too good for the X-Men line.

Marvel promised me that it would "change everything" though!!!!

    :lol

I mean, I never expected anyone to die or anything, but we now know that the Avengers and X-Men make up, Captain America realizes he treated the mutants poorly and now is making amends. We know that the X-Men also lose the Phoenix Force or whatever it is they have.

No point in reading the rest of AvX now, you know? We all already know the ending. It's like Marvel itself just stopped caring about this story since they started hyping their next big event during their current one :lol

Some people want to know how it happened :)  Just like Siege, Secret Invasion, Civil War, Infinity Gauntlet, Infinite Crisis, Zero Hour etc.

Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men is supposed to get through this unscathed. So long as it does I'm content. For the rest of the line... well, I suppose it will be interesting to see how Bendis justifies Luke Cage joining the X-Men. :p

Oh right, and actually Bendis seems to be only handling one X-Men title, one that's not really an integral one. I wouldn't be surprised if he retconned Luke Cage's superpowers to be a latent activation of his superpowers due to the experimental treatment. Look at how he (and I'm guessing Matt Fraction/Ed Brubaker) shoehorned Iron Fist into the Phoenix mythology.

I thought his modern look was pretty damn good imo. Certainly, the best since X-Factor.
