I liked it. It was fast and bombastic, but I expected that going in. Also, as a big Cable fan I'm just excited to see him back, even if its from Loeb. If nothing else, eDex is an art team that's always perfect for this kind of story and completely delivered.

Yes but it just seems Cable is being written way too one dimensionally, especially after his last few series established him as being more than just the gun toting cyborg tough guy he originally came out to be. He isn't supposed to be "Faith isn't around to save the world because of the Avengers? I'm going to kill the Avengers!"

That kind of writing just turns me off.

    Newsarama.com : Marvel Comics' MARCH 2012 Solicitations

So I'm reading the previews and I count way to many instances of the phrasing, dying, character will die, or death all in the same month. Mostly in the avenger and x-men books. I'm so bored with pointless character deaths, especially the ones they constantly hint at or reveal before the issue even comes out, that if I see it, I won't pick up the book. I'm so jaded at this point I'm about to half my already halved pull list.

Yeah, and everyone knows they're going to come back sooner or later anyway. I wouldn't mind them as much if they didn't make such big deals out of them...

And this is why I feel AvX will be yet another poorly written crossover ala Civil War.

In the initial teaser, we've got Wolverine fighting on the Avengers side.

Afterwards, in the various one on one ads we've seen, we've seen Wolverine and Beast going against Cap and Luke Cage respectively to hype up Avengers vs X-Men.

And yet now, they're back on the Avengers side.

If Everyone Talks At Once, No One Will Hear A Thing | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

If they can't even coordinate their ads properly, I find it hard to believe they're planned this storyline properly. I hated Civil War's tendencies of writing certain characters one way in a few titles and one way in several others. This certainly looks like it might head down that same road.

Okay, I'm just gonna pop in real quick...

But Beast and Wolverine deserve to be on the Avengers side, especially after the whole schism deal and Beast kinda joining the (secret?) Avengers. I just don't think that Wolverine would want to side with Cyke after he was such a raging douche- and still kind of is.

However, I see this fight being pretty even-handed, especially with powerhouses like Emma and Mags on the X-Men side. I mean, sure, Colossus and his new stupid Juggernaut helmet don't stand a chance against Red Hulk, but there's still some cool match-ups going on here.

So it seems I was most likely right about Cyclops starting this whole mess by being a dick. Am I the only one who finds that kind of sad?

    Round 1?
What is this? A video game? :lol

And also, what the heck is going on with the editors? Jean Grey did not have to kill herself. That wasn't even Jean Grey, it was the Phoenix itself. Second, it came back, several times, and apparently everyone forgot about it. Hell Rachel was the Phoenix for a while, why does it seem everyone keeps thinking the last time they "fought" it was during the original Byrne Claremont run.

I just hope the Phoenix possesses Luke Cage's kid just to mess with everyone.

"The last time we dealt with the Phoenix we were young and foolish"? The Phoenix: Endsong and Phoenix: Warsong mini-series came out a few years ago, which in comic book time wouldn't have been all that long ago... They make it sound like the last time they dealt with the Phoenix Force was way back with the Dark Phoenix Saga in this preview.

Most current comic writers don't like to think about continuity that exists outside of stories they haven't read or think the common reader hasn't. They mostly like to believe only famous major story arcs are known and most readers never read them but saw the cartoon version. It takes less time than actually trying to explain continuity to the readers who missed those issues. Really these days most writers/ editors don't care about continuity, which explains the current mess the industry is in and why we are mostly reading variations on 10 to 15 year old stories we already read.

They're also ignoring the fact that Rachel Summers had the Phoenix Force and actively used it for years on the X-Men and Excalibur. Such a blatant disregard for continuity pretty much kills any interest I may have had in this - and I was already almost completely uninterested. It's bad enough that Marvel is going to hijack all of the books I read for months of crossover crap, but now it's going to be crossover crap that ignores huge swathes of continuity? Screw that.
