I'm getting tired of all of the events. What happened to just having a single comic, with the occasional crossover with another comic, and the SUPERRARE major crossover event.

I actually like the story behind this "event".

- The Phoenix force is returning to Earth.
- Everyone assumes that it is Hope Summers, the Mutant Messiah and "hope" for the future of mutantkind that will become the next Phoenix
- Cyclops and Magneto decide they want to protect her
- - Cyclops because why? Reminds him of the Jean situation?
- - Magento why? To use her to finally, FINALLY, take over?
- Avengers do their normal "We are the GREATER good, must protect the world!" speel
- Avengers and X-Men square-off, also alludes to more "Schism" events with Wolverine siding with the Avengers against Cyclops.

But I agree, this is just a big stunt to bring back Jean Grey (her descendant Hope Summers is already here, Rachel Summers is here as well), etc.

Watch the Phoenix pick someone totally random ... probably Rogue, they like to put her in the spotlight all the time.

Marvel needs to pull a DC and just reboot their entire universe. These "events" are quite annoying and hard to follow. The real problem is every time they get a new writer in charge, he/she wants to leave their mark on the comic industry and/or try to make the characters their own and it's really conflicting when every writer/editor wants to be "God" of a comic universe, it just causes chaos.

That's what I like about manga, one artist/writer through the whole series, the story actually evolves, the characters grow and the series actually progresses.

Case in point, Cyclop's X-Men features a whole cast of reformed villains! Magneto, White Queen, Namor, and Colossus (and he's more villain-like now that he's the new Juggernaut)
