They did the "I've got the power of a god I can do so much" schtick with Kyle.....but he was completly in control, and wasn't even acting like he had more power, he was just using it more, the land cultivation trope and detroying weapons that you normally see, then he reppelled an entire alien attack armada while sitting in his chair. Superman takes him aside to give him the "We're not gods we can't do too much" speech, but is tiptoeing around it cause....now your risking the "You're jealous and scared of my power!" wig-out. Kyle just listens to what he says and goes "Huh....ok well, you're probably right...gimme a day or two to figure out what to do" He toys with the idea of changing history (Because he has become so powerful he can make changes without a butterfly effect) but decides that too much for him to have the right and instead recreates OA, the battery, and revives the Gaurdians. Dumping all the extra power so the Corps can be restarted (while also creating a better GL ring) The entire arc was only 2 or 3 issues, and at NO TIME did Kyle ever become stuck up, or argue that he knew better, or wasn't listening to the concerns of others over how powerful he had become. It was a standard story held in an unstandard way (the unstandard way being that the character acted like a normal person should!)

Wow, that is different. I wish more writers would write characters in a more sensible manner, and not out of character just for the sake of a story.

I feel the exact same way! Unfortunately sensible behavior doesn't lead to drama.

I believe if you had good writers at the helm, they can still find a way to make it interesting. I honestly hate that Marvel is so obsessed with pitting heroes against heroes these days ( Civil War, Avengers vs X-Men, and even thought they weren't really heroes, a huge chunk of Secret Invasion and Siege was heroes fighting villains who looked like heroes).

Going off of 10 year old memory I just reread that story arc ( It was GL. Vol. 3 #146-150 for anyone interested) it was even better than I remember, Kyle was so Humble through the entire arc and avoided so many story pitfalls. Like a character comments that he hasn't started referring to people as something seperate than himself, he still says "We humans", He asks people before he Fixes bodily damage like broken spines and lost powers, things like that.

Hear hear. The early issues aren't the worst art I've seen from JRJr, but it was still far from his best.

I've been reading this from the start. I honestly don't know what to think of the story so far. A lot of people I know think that this is creative bankruptcy. I'll still read it to the end, I just want to see where this story is going.

The story involves phoenix, like we didn't know this was coming. It's a rehash of several old stories and a poorly written excuse to show cyclops in a thong...yes that is what his phoenix powered costume is wearing.

Well now, they had to do it one time or another. I'm actually surprised it took em this long.

:lol  Well, she is called Phoenix for a reason :p

Seems like the writers like having her around. Just weird that they keep ignoring that she used to be a Phoenix host.

    Regarding Jean coming back,
it certainly looks like she is coming back, but not the present day one. Bendis is supposedly writing an X-Men book featuring the original 5 members timetravelling to the present and basically showing their reactions to the changes. That would explain the younger Marvel Girl we're seeing.

The picture looks like it's a promo pic for the entire line, rather than the Uncanny Avengers as Rich puts it. See Marvel Girl there? She's part of Bendis' time traveling X-men, which is why she's in the original costume.

Yeah, that looks more like a Marvel NOW promo. Also, an X-shaped visor Cyclops, really? Cable wearing an eye patch over his one good eye?

It's good to see Hulk wearing metal armor at least. Wouldn't want his skin to get hurt! Hopefully it doesn't snap off when he flexes...
