So the first thing Bendis does is make Lois and Jon disappear? ......seriously?
We will have to go through six issues to find out what happened. But they all come out in june so it's not too bad, but hearing they are gone does not make me want to buy the book, it's the exact opposite.

It feels like we just went through this. I mean, the New 52 was a while ago now, but most fans hated DC splitting Clark and Lois. Then finally DC caved and brought pre-New 52 Clark and Lois back, with Jon, and I think that was pretty universally loved and preferred by almost all readers, hardcore and casual. Superman sales rose. Now here comes Bendis with no understanding or even interest in what anyone wants to read, and just repeats the move that wasn't popular the last time they did it.

    le sigh.

I like when Bendis tries unusual or even controversial things with characters. Even something that turns out dismal, like his Moon Knight, is at least an interesting failure. I like the ambition. But I like it at Marvel. That isn't what I want from DC. Especially with a character like Superman, which only just got back on track so recently.

It's worse that no one told him no he couldn't do that.

Whoa, whoa. He's getting rid of Jon and Lois? Man... I mean, yes it's Bendis, but I think I might have to pass on his issues if he's going to pull this nonsense.

Well the previews say they are missing and Clark/Superman won't say what happened. It's 6 issue mini that will come out throughout the same month. But they mention it in the description for almost every issue.

Let’s just see what happens and if they’re not back by the end, we panic.

If it was most other writers we probably wouldn't.

    All of this.

If it was anyone beside Bendis, I wouldn't be worried, as it is... I'm a little worried.

You're sense of optimism is refreshing. It reminds me of reading in my 20s. 1999-2004 was a great five years, then Bendis wrote Avengers Disassembled/House of M.

I’d like to think it’s a fake-out, with Lois and Jon just being on some case/vacation/whatever that Clark can’t talk about without compromising his secret ID. But it’s Bendis, so they’re probably dead.

I was wavering on whether to buy this, as the artwork looks great.
I’ll pass. Bendis just irritates me these days. Guess I’ll drop the Superman books and pick up Justice League.

If we could get a story of that caliber with Superman? I could die a happy man. Now I have a glimmer of hope.

A comic is a comic to me. Especially when it comes to ones such as this.

Yeah, but those weren't good stories, lol. They were the beginning of everything turned modern comics into the mess they are today.

Like I said, youthful optimism. Wait til you're our age if you still are reading comics.

Hm. I can sort of see your point, but I don't think his New Avengers run had anywhere near the problems that some of the silly comics have today. I do agree that House of M was a bit of a travesty overall, it had a few good nuggets. Still, you're not wrong with your assertion that Bendis is kind of the progenitor of a lot of this stuff.

I'm going to have to take the wait and see approach with this one.

I won't buy not read it until the story arc is complete and I can see reviews. If Clark & family are still split by then, I'm ditching Supes. I didn't sign for reading this... again.

Sigh I really hope DC wont end up shooting themselves in the foot with Bendis after all the good they built up with Rebirth. Bendis is usually good with new characters with little/no adherence to continuity but if you put him on stuff like Superman you better have strong editorial as evidence by his last few years at Marvel, which really went nowhere fast.

Yeah, once he got into new avengers it wasn't that bad despite Marvel pushing sentry on us. And post secret invasion was its peak imo.

But while I thought disassembled was pretty cool at the time, in retrospect it's not that great. Let's make Wanda secretly crazy all these years, and have her kill a bunch of her friends annnddd then later Wipeout mutants cause Morrison Increased their population too much.

Plus HoM really got the balling rolling again not just on the companies relying on mega-events, but resparked the variant cover craze of the 90s.

I'll be always love his Daredevil, alias, Ult Spidey (pre death of Peter), and powers though. But like Star Saber said, he is at his best when working on titles with no previous continuity or street level guys.
