    I love/hate you, Robert Kirkman

I love you because you gave the world The Walking Dead: one of the most beautiful, artistic, engaing, addictive, and emotionally saisfying comics ever.

I hate you because you gave the world The Walking Dead: one of the most depressing, grisly, infuriating, hard to read, and emotionally devestating comics ever.

I just read up through Volume Six of The Walking Dead. This concludes my short review.

    10/10.

Also, Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour 9/10. A satisfying conclusion, if a little fast-paced, but that's something that's hindered my enjoyment of all the Pilgrim books upon first reading. Re-reading the series may help.

Um, this Spider Man comic collection.

    I'd give it a 9/10. I dig it.

Superman: Birthright. 10/10. This book needs to be made into a movie. It's epic and it's practically storyboarded.

Superman: Back in Action. 6/10. Meh. Had it's good points, but still, meh.

    - DV8: Gods and Monsters #4 - 5/10 - Really trying to like this miniseries, but it's just not working out. The focus on the individual characters is nice, but it would be a lot more effective if each character was telling their own section of the story from their viewpoint, rather than Copycat (who's apparently gone from multiple personalities to none) narrating the whole thing. This issue especially would have benefited from being told from Threshold's perspective, with more "show" and less "tell". Also a very quick read (~5 minutes); I had to count the pages to verify that it was actually a 22 page comic. Art is nice, though.

    - JLA: Pain of the Gods - 3/10 - Last of the 90s JLA TPBs I had left to read. The story isn't a bad idea in general, but the execution was terrible. Tries to make some emotional points, but jumps around so quickly that none of it connects. Also poor characterization; felt like the author just wanted to write this story and he just happened to be on JLA when he felt like writing it, so the characters just had to adjust. Very quick read and poor art.

had to go back and make sure I read 99, because it felt like I was missing something, but no, just a blindside plot twist, made even sadder by re-reading the previous chapter again.

    8/10, but, damn-it T_T

    Y: The Last Man - Unmanned - 8/10

I've been meaning to check this out for a while as a lot of people have recommended it. Interesting idea, fairly well executed too. I'll be picking up the next one pretty soon.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - 9/10. The TPB's pace and overall story were better than the movie, hands down, but the movie's dialogue was actually better in parts.

Superman/Batman: Vengeance - 9/10. Every Supergirl to ever exist has a cameo. :D  Happy fanboy is happy.

Shadowland #1 - not a bad start to the series. the art is nice, and i like the fact that it's all street level heroes. 7/10 for the book as a hole, and 9/10 for the pretty awesome ending.

    Morning Glories #1 - 10/10

Wow, this new series from Image might already be my favorite ongoing right now. Great set up for the series, they keep everything a mystery but give you enough of a taste of what's going on "behind the scenes" to get you hooked. I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to start reading a new title without having to worry about a bunch of backstory.

DV8: Gods and Monsters #5 - 4/10 - Same major problem in this issue as the last one (Copycat's "tell don't show" narration), but the art is still nice. Gave it one less point than #4 because it doesn't feel like the series is going anywhere, despite being past the halfway mark.

GLC #51 - 7/10 - Some flat-out atrocious art in places, while the rest looks like someone trying to copy someone who's copying Jim Lee. The writing is very good, though, and Bedard seems to really get Henshaw's character. It's also nice to see a villain who actually carries through on a "do as I say or the hostages die" threat.

Irredeemable vol 1 & 2....Definately a 10/10 If I could give it an 11 I would! One of the best books I've gotten into in AGES, the worlds greatest superhero flips out and turns on everyone....governments cave and his remaining former team mates are on the run while trying to figure out how to stop him.

    GO READ IT!

Green Lantern: Revenge of the Green Lanterns - 8.5/10. Fun story and great artwork.

Green Lantern: Wanted: Hal Jordan - 9.5/10. Awesome ending story to my little trilogy I had going there.

Superman: For Tomorrow vols. 1 & 2 - 7/10. I liked it. Kind of in the same vein as Neon Genesis: Evangelion with the Judeo-Christian symbols and themes. Good story.

Showcase #4 (October 1956) - 9/10. First appearance of Barry Allen as the Flash. Awesomesauce.

Green Lantern: Secret Origin - 9/10. Soooo awesome. Great intro for a "poozer" GL fan. And it's great they're basing the movie on this.

Ghostbusters: Displaced Aggression - 8/10. Lagged a bit in the middle, but I enjoyed it. Ghostbusters, man!

    Nextwave - 8/10
LOLcano. Not as ruthless as I would have liked, but still probably the best parody of the cape genre since DKSA.

    XIII Vol.2 - 9/10
Still loving this, prime example of how a relatively unoriginal concept can be made awesome with high quality execution. Only gripe is that it isn't being reproduced at its original size, which crams the art a bit too much in some panels.

Not sure what i'll hit up next, maybe Largo Winch Vol.2 or Valerian Vol.1.
