Out tomorrow, Thursday, June 3rd. Until then, the TFW early review: TFW2005 Reviews Ironhide #2 - Transformers News
Hm, since LSOTW ended, this seems to be the best of what IDW have with "Transformers" in the title, both art and script. Can't wait to get it.
Oh please, the franchise as a whole has never shied away from bringing Transformers back to life. I can't think of a single continuity where no one has come back from the dead, and that's not even counting the many deaths and rebirths of Optimus Prime.
Well this series is getting kinda interesting. This was a good issue. Still don't quite know what's going on, but it's interesting. This might sort of fit with Megatron Origins after all.... sort of. It seems that in the flash back there are still mines open with Transformers as miners. So they haven't replaced all the miners with automated systems yet. It'll be interesting to see where this series goes.
Another great issue with great art and great backstory. The actual plot in current time is moving really slow, but that's adding to the mystery of the series. Can't wait to see what happens next. Also, how many issues is this mini supposed to be?
Is that half-faced robot supposed to be Outback? Transformers just don't die like they used to huh? JL
I really think you are missing the point. Not only are they NOT ignoring the fact that they killed him off, but I think that his death and the whole "why am I here" confusion is the whole mystery of this series. This was a great issue. The last page or so is a little confusing until you see the last page/panel!
That's Spoiler Scamper . Which means Spoiler METROPLEX!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, nice to see Costa knows/remembers Outback's dead & how he is dead.
Very nice read. Quite suspenseful as the cuts back to the present really give you this empty feeling. What was Outback's deal in IDW? I can't remember now. The art is so unbelievably beautiful and crisp. Some of the cybertron shots looked almost like a more vibrant guidi. So many great moments in this book-- Ironhide beating to death the swarm, the half blasted outback... As Blaster once said, looks like Ironhide is heading toward "My kinda town!" Great read all around.
What's interesting is that most of the plot/character development in Ironhide 1 and 2 take place in the past. As you point out, it definitely adds to the mystery. Can't wait to see what 'plex has in store for us!
He died off-panel in Spotlight Kup due to a explosion. Kup then proceeded to keep what was left his body to talk to and later used his arm as a melee weapon.
I thought it was him! Maybe we'll learn a little more about his mission that he was so secretive about in his spotlight.
I like the inclusion of Scamper, but I'm unsure how I feel about him being reduced to a Roller-like drone. I'm wondering if this may be the beginings of a story about Primus, Vector Sigma, the Well of Allsparks, or controlled Spark regeneration experiments conducted by Wheeljack. Like say, Wheeljack collected a dose of Ironhide's Spark, and kept it in his lab on Cybertron. The lab receives a signal that Ironhide has died, and uses the Spark fragment to boot up the "back-Up" version of Ironhide, who would have no memories past the time of the initial Saving of his Spark.
