Probably some VERY good reads in there but no money at all.
You'll be very lucky to get 10 cents a book, but expect much less than that, especially if you unload them to a dealer or comic book store.
If you paid $1000 for this collection, she TOTALLY ripped you off. Sorry about that, I really am. I see this sort of thing all the time. I hate to see people get ripped off like this.
If this girl knew anything about comic books she knew good and well she ripped you off big-time.
If you need any individual values or advice, feel free to PM me. | Yeah well... you pretty much summed it up. Big surprise she dumped me shortly after. This was a few years ago, but now I gotta get rid of this stuff, and believe me, its embarrassing as hell to admit this publicly on the boards, but I'm out of options and I need to find some way to earn something close to what I stupidly paid. I mean, look... I am not a store, but stores charge cover price or even a dollar or two more? I'd like to altruistically think that this many comics for $1 each is better than retail. But I guess I have to accept the fact I lost this one big time.
Thanks guys, any ongoing help is appreciated. Let me know if anyone has a good idea. FEEDBACK THREADS eBay TFW2005 ALLSPARK TFANS |

The majority of those books wouldn't sell in quarter bins, and that makes stores even less likely to want to buy them.
I'm suggest maybe grab-bag lots on ebay or Craig's list.
Though some of the trades might be worth something considering the secondary market is surprisingly strong for them.

Be prepared to get some embarrassingly lowball offers for it.
As others have said, put it on CraigsList but don't expect much for it at all. Have people make you offers, if you put it up there for $1000 no one will even look at it.
The thing people don't realize about collecting comic books is this fact: the whole reason behind old(pre-1975) comic books being valuable in the first place is that people used to throw them away after they read them. Yes, people used to toss their comics in the trash or trade them with friends back in the day. This is also why vintage books retain their value so well, there just isn't that many copies left in circulation.
The cat has been out of the bag for 40+ years now and no one throws their comic books away anymore. With bigger print runs now as well, this makes far more supply than demand by a mile. Every now and then you get a high-demand modern book with a low print run but that doesn't happen very often and even then, they rarely retain their value over the long-run.
So unless you are collecting vintage(by this I mean pre-1975 books) comics, they are a VERY poor investment.
If you buy modern comic books, use them for what they were intended for in the first place: READING.....because you'll never get rich off them. Administrator, StlComics.com My TFW2005 Feedback |

I think they're actually lower today (2000-present), but because people keep them and keep them in good condition, they have a higher circulation than the large print runs of the books from the 60s, 70s, and 80s (which really aren't worth that much either).
Thought the print run of 90s were beyond ridiculous, but that's an entire different animal. Quote:

I remember buying the first 6-8 issues of Ghost Rider vol. 2 for $20 each around 1993. I could find them in the dollar bins today. I probably spent close to $150 on the first ten issues of the Authority back when the title was on fire in the early 2000s, now they're pretty much cover price.

Go through everything, catalogue it, and separate it into lots. Then you can sell runs of a book on here, ebay, or craigslist easier than unloading an entire garage full of books on one person. I know I saw some books on your list that I'd like to read. |
