I know they don't mesh together exactly, but as I understand it,
Megatron:Origins" was originally a DW story, and intended to follow on from the "War Within" series. As such, it could be considered a predecessor to the current storyline.
Do you consider them the same story, even though they are from different publishers and have minor continuity problems (but so does the "ations" and AHM)?

At this point I'm not sure if I consider Megatron: Origin as part of IDW continuity, either. (Hell, it seems IDW itself doesn't so can you blame me?)
IDW's continuity has become a muddled mess as it is because of terrible editorial decisions and lack of editorial direction. Why try to add something else in and make it even worse? | |

I see it as fitting in between Megatron: Origins and Stormbringer.
