This issue gave me the same feeling as AHM #13 did, 1st story not needed, and the second story very interesting. It's probably a long shot, but I want to see Galvatron & co. play a role(preferably an important one) in the ongoing.

Yes. Yes I did. I also keep mentally adding a "mutherf***er!" in there afterwards. So Galvatron now sounds like Dave Chapell doing Rick James.

I'll get on board as tentatively liking the new version of the old trio, but I'll reserve further judgment until we learn what Galvatron's plan actually is. I think, of all the characterizations, I like the the new Cyclonus the best. I'm even handwaving the fact that, as was mentioned earlier in the thread, it was Galvatron that could stay the longest in the regular universe.

But I cannot stand the Sunstreaker retcon so damn soon! Either he was willing to merge with Hunter, or he wasn't. The two accounts are very contradictory, and to what end? To justify Sunstreaker's treachery? That just seemed to come completely out of nowhere and trying to retroactively justify it just isn't working for me at all.

Maybe he merged with Hunter because it was his only option at the time to get the slag out of there and escape. I saw it as willing to merge at the time because he had no other choice but then hating it in retrospect and then wishing he had just died instead, not becuase he hated Hunter per se but because he hated to idea of sharing his mind with anyone period so much.

That Galvatron story introduces a couple of continuity errors.

- Scourge was last mentioned in AHM as being a Decepticon.
- However, Scourge is apparently a member of the Dead Universe faction despite never having been seen before.

Sunstreaker was undoubtably desperate to get out of there. Something in Devastation that was implied, but not really touched upon was the fact Sunstreaker had transferred most of his core consciousness into Hunter, and (as suggested by Hail and Farewell), over time, they would become one as a singular symbiotic being.

However, the beef people such as I have with McCarthy's version of events in AHM 14 is it is implied Hunter ignored Sunstreaker's pleas and either coerced or forced him to undergo the Headmaster process. Devastation showed Hunter convincing him it would be a means of revenge, and Sunstreaker was quite agreeable about it, and as we subsequently saw, Sunstreaker was seemingly okay with humanity in general, and only wanted to get back at the Machination.

This whole "hatred of mankind" and "treachery" thing is an invention of All Hail Megatron because that story needed an Autobot traitor, nothing more, especially considering AHM was originally written as an unrelated, alternate universe storyline about the Decepticons rampaging across Earth.

I think my main and least biased problem with the Hunter/Sunstreaker continuity debacle is that no matter how you look at it, you have to ignore parts from either what came before or what's being presented now. If there were over 5 years or something between the stories I could dig it, but they were practically being written at the same time, right? :/

I remember hearing an urban legend about the old cartoon Dungeons & Dragons, where all the characters died in an accident at the fairground and their souls were stuck in hell. I'm beginning to feel that Maximum Dinobots was just like that. He died when trying to merge with Sunstreaker and the events of Maximum Dinobots, the partnership with Sunny and all the growth they experienced was just a fantasy he experienced in his final moments... It would make about as much sense as the Sunstreaker - Traitor story at least... Heck, it would make that story make more sense as Sunstreaker never learned anything if this Coda story and AHM are to be believed, never gained empathy from sharing a mind with a human who'd been equally mistreated, never encountered Scorpy and discovered the Decepticons were behind his torment and so on... Scorpy just handing the both of them over would explain how they got Hunter to begin with and how he wasn't remotely human looking... It still wouldn't explain how the heck he was responsible for bringing down everything, which I thought these issues were supposed to do.

Ugh, thanks Shane... Have fun screwing up marvel characters.

Just for the sake of fairness, I have to say the Scourge thing wasn't IDW's fault. Apparently Shane said in an interview that Scourge as a Decepticon rival to Megatron was nixed by Hasbro, after the issue had gone to print. (It was a long audio interview so I can't link or quote)

Yeah I still don`t see how they will bring this all together. Has Hot-Rod being in MDB resolved yet?

Have to say having met Casey Collar, he is a great artist and a fanatastic guy.

Resolved in what way? Hot Rod stayed behind to help rescue Sunstreaker. He left the planet at the same time as Sunny and the rest of the Dinobots as far as I remember and joined back up with Kup's team I think, unless I'm forgetting something. What I really waht to know is who/how did they rescue Ironhide. I don't think it was every shown at all how he avoided getting crushed to death.

Casey sounds like a very cool guy. I know he's visited the boards around here a time or two. I think he's another of the talented IDW artist who work deserved to be showcased more, much like Roche.

I need to re-read MDB then. I just don`t get how they managed to tie up all the 3 previous series with all the one-shots and Strombringer, but all fell apart with AHM

Cassey is class, I have some great G1 art he did for me.
