Thanks for the heads uo, I didn't know they were doing this series.
My favorite Who related series will always be Absalom Daak, Dalek Hunter.

Just a quick question...

Does anyone here get DWM?

Okay, bringing this thread back.

I just read The Forgotten.

What did everybody see in it?

I've got no idea. As soon as I get the TPB, I'll be able to tell you what I think, but I can only say what I've seen from the 5-page previews. The art looks good, and I like the aspect of the Doctor going back to find his previous lives or something like that, but like I said, I can't really give an opinion at the moment.

Why, did you not like it?

I can't say I was a fan.

It seemed to be directed solely at casual fanboys. All the Doctors are there, they all do their bits; Hartnell gets angry at Ian, Troughton plays his recorder, Pertwee reverses the polarity, Baker is Baker, Davison plays cricket, Colin is on trial, McCoy has Ace use nitro 9, McGaan spouts a fanwanky line about being half-human, Eccles says 'Fantastic!' and Tennant makes pop references and talks about Barcelona.

And that's it really. Oh, there's some slight story there to hold it all together, but for the most part it's just running around making continuity references, and fanwanking. The story, or lack thereof, doesn't so much resolve itself as fizzle out. I never found myself engrossed in the mystery as, because of the structure, I knew exactly when it was going to resolve itself.

The art was a mixed bag, as can be expected from a variety of artists. For the most part, it was mediocre to pretty good. However, Issue 3's art stands out as fairly abysmal. Roche's covers were... unpleasant. He should really stick to drawing giant robots, at which he excels.

So, overall I give it a C-. I don't really recommend it, but if you ever wanted The 5 Doctors on overdrive, than this is for you.

Oh, and the revelation of how the Time War ended gave me... unhappy feelings to say in the least. It was fanwank at it's fanwankiest.

On the plus side, it made me appreciate Scott Gray's tenure on the DWM strip a whole lot more. There was a man who knew how to handle Doctor Who.

Anyone read The Time Machination yet? I thought it was brilliantly done.

I didn't care for the art, but I liked how it wrapped around Timelash and The Talons of Weng Chiang (or however you spell that) and showed off just how deviously clever the Doctor can be.

No matter how good an IDW Doctor Who book may or may not be, I can't bring myself to even give it a chance due to the artwork.

I actually thought the artwork in The Time Machination was pretty cool, and worked for that kind of story.

Holy crap has anyone read the "Room With a Deja Vu" one-shot yet? Brilliant. Confusing, but brilliant.
