Even though it was a typical Marvel "gimmick", I must say it has been (and continues to be) one of the best-written storylines in recent history. So, even though you know they'll eventually find some way to bring him back, it's worth the read because Ed Brubaker is THAT good.
Now, if you want to talk shameless gimmicks by Marvel, look no further at their lame attempt to bring Captain Marvel back from the dead (sort of). The "Death of Captain Marvel" graphic novel is one of the greatest stores ever, and for Marvel to try and bring him back just reeks of desparation for more sales. Joe Quesada is running that place into the ground. |

Bucky has done a fine job of taking up the legacy. It was pretty inspiring at the end of the storyline when people run up to him and start calling him "Cap".
