Ringworld

Anyone else read any of the Ringworld books? I just finished Engineers the other night. The last few chapters blew me away. I started reading Ringworld's Children yesterday. Man this stuff is good. And twice as old as i am.

I have them all. I was somewhat disappointed by #4, Children. It was good, don't get me wrong, but a totaly different tone than the first 3. There were runs of chaptes that never dealt with Luis Wu or anyone in his group. So much about the "indiginous" people and their internal politics. If you like these, try some of his other books too. I recommend "N-Space and other stories", it's a collection of short stories, some of which happen in the Ringworld Universe. Always good to see another Niven fan!

no, Throne is the third one, IIRC. Ringworld, Engineers, Throne, Children.

yeah, there's a bit of an info gap there, but not as much as you might think, IIRC. I think the biggest thing you miss is the introduction of Chmee, maybe?

Anyways, I heard tell that tere are talks to make an animated/CGI mini-series based on Ringworld, but never heard anything more about it. I had hopes, but they seem dashed now.

i have a feeling there will be a terrible straight-to-dvd B movie made of it when the Halo movie hits theaters in a couple years.
