I received a link to an image scanned from a future edition of Comic Buyer’s Guide, where J. Michael Straczynski gives away the plot to Marvel’s One More Day.

Before clicking the link, be warned that it may be too much spoiler for you to deal with. I have a few thoughts after the jump.

In light of yesterday’s teaser release from Marvel, and the general comments made by top Marvel cats, the plot shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, and I know several message boards have been talking a potential Mephisto angle to this whole storyline. Frankly, after reading the spoiler, it reminds me of a lot of what The Spectre did to Wally West, and we see how that turned out.

For those who hate the Joe Quesada idea of Peter’s marriage to MJ is a bad idea, read the spoiler and look for the obvious plot hole.

It'll be another stupid move by marvel that'll drop sales and they'll retconn it in a few years after they realize their mistake. It already happened the last time they killed/kidnapped her in the 90's. It used to be that it was DC characters that couldn't make changes and kept changing things so their characters couldn't committ. Now the DC characters are committing and expanding and Marvel is retconning and contracting.

And the Reality was twisted by the Infinity Gauntlet.

YEs at this point I think many readers are tired of the cop out ending to the big hyped event. I know I have been dropping titles from both companies from my pull list on a semi regular basis. I'm focusing on more story driven characters rather than the next cross over event. And I dropped Spider-Man from my list well over a year ago. They seem determined to ruin him.

Bah, the old bat should've stayed dead after the beautiful ASM #400. Bringing her back in the first place was a stupid idea, and now using her dying again to undo Spidey's marriage is even worse. There is no way that Spidey fans aren't going to be storming Marvel's head office with torches and pitch forks after this.

And what's really stupid is we all know that Peter and MJ will meet up and start dating again anyway, so the only thing this changes is that they won't be living together. Stupid, pointless, and a solution to something that no one thinks is a problem in the first place... add in the insane over-hyping and we have all of Quesada's trademarks.

Erasing an entire part of his life so Aunt May can feasibly live for another...what..10 years...makes no sense to me even in terms of comic book reality.

That's pretty ridiculous. This is the thing that bothers me about comic books lately. It's like, no one stands by anything they are doing. They make large changes, and then they always rely on some big "reset" button and change it back somehow, or change things further that it doesn't make any sense anymore. Really doesn't make me feel so bad I've cut buying comics out of my budget.
