Marvel 1st Major Publisher To Confirm Digital Distribution

Though I understand the reasoning for the move, for me when it comes to comics, no thanks.

I might be tempted to read -more- but still buy my core books on paper. Depends.

F*** paper and the archaic distribution systems of the past.

The only use for paper comics is for something to read on the john. And since 99% of modern "monthly" comics take three minutes to read, even THAT is pointless.

I switched to digital magazines & newspapers almost exclusively already. Hell, even the owner of the New York Times has said that they plan on cutting the print version of their paper within the decade for a daily digital version.

Marvel is foolish to limit this to their Marvel Adventures & Classics Illustrated comics, but they're too afraid of pissing off their aging reader base and Diamond to make that final leap into the 21st century. The only future for print edition comics is compilations of serials first printed online.

I don’t think of comics as an investment any more and have heaps of old comics around here. This is the sort of thing that could get me back into following more comics and not just the 2 or 3 I am now.

I'd be able to buy, read, and enjoy a lot more comics if I could pay a fraction and download them.

I'd still buy books regularly, but with cheap digital copies I'd be a lot more like to try something out.

It's a good thing I sell a wide range of collectables, otherwise something like this could put me out of business.

I'm sure there's already "online distribution" of comics, just not officially endorsed by Marvel/DC/other publishers.

Ladies and gentlemen, issue 1 has been posted!
