I don't know up from down when it comes to the comic book world. So I have a pretty straightforward question. Are Deadpool Comics okay for kids say young teenagers. I won't allow my son to see the new Deadpool movie that just came out on DVD for a few reasons, but I would like to get some comics for him to have instead, just as a background reason to why I am asking the question. I know he's a questionable character but I imagine the vulgarity in a comic is tamed down compared to the movie, I hope at least.

There's a lot of Deadpool I haven't read, but I do think that most of it will generally be fine for teenage kids (as long as we're not talking about MAX titles). The regular DP comics, are part of the same shared Marvel Universe, and should be as suitable as everything else.

There will be violence, because comics, but there will be zero nudity and no profanity -- except for $#%! like $#%!.

No problem -- do check back for more responses, though. Like I said, there's is a lot I have not read, so I'd like to see if some regular readers have to say.

I did just read "Deadpool v Gambit #1" and thought it was a lot of fun.

Modern Deadpool is more kid friendly,(Heck he's an Avenger now) but I'd be careful with some of the older stuff.

I'd say Ways run is a little more mature in themes, definitely avoid any of the Deadpool kills or vs miniseries aka the minibus.

But deadpool corps, the Kelly omnibus, and Duggan stuff is pretty safe.

I'd say aim for the ones where he's part of a team like Uncanny Avengers, or the most recent run.
As books from say 2005 and below still show him as a psychopath willing to kill innocents and have a fair amount of gore.

Current Deadpool is more of a violent manchild than anything, so it'll probably be fine as long as you check the age rating in the cover.

I read all of deadpool and cable and there are sex jokes, but probably the same stuff 13 yr olds talk about. I'd let my kid read it at 13 if she wanted to.

I'd recommend skipping to the last four minutes of ComicBookGirl19's Deadpool movie review on YouTube for MY answer, lol.

Keep in mind even in the cleaner versions things like this happen frequently

Aw... those pages are just good ol' fashioned Americana. Isn't there a scene were a decapitated deadpool bites a guy in the crotch? Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I think it depends on what you let ypur kid read. The recommended age for most deadpool comics is +15 (even though I started reading them when I was fourteen X)P ) it seems to depend on the specific series. The Marvel Now one is pretty violent, but I don't remember anything sexual in it (aside from one or two sex jokes here and there) and Secret Wars Deadpool is pretty safe, but I can't think of much else off the top of my head. I just know that you would NOT want him reading the Max comics. Those are basically the +18 comics.
