And in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated cartoon he was a descendant of the Anunnaki and they've said in interviews that Scooby would be a experimental smart dog with Shaggy as his handler.

I've been reading some good fan and critic reviews on Future Quest so you might wan't give that a try.

I've just finished reading Future Quest #1 and man that was a good book. I find it hard to believe that Marvel and DC hasn't found a way to put Jeff Parker and Evan Shaner on better books.

... okay, this is pretty adult and hardcore, more so than a HB cartoon needs to be.

But I do like how the automobiles have been revised:

I don't see any problem with this comic being violent because it's not trying to be the old cartoon show.

Man, Wacky Raceland is hitting every single bad modern update trope it possibly can. It's EDGY GRIMDARK APOCALYPSE and everyone's got TRAGIC CHILDHOODS and there's SWEARING AND BLOOD AND DEATH and MUTTLY DOESN'T LAUGH because it's TOO SERIOUS but it's also PROGRESSIVE because they changed a fat male character into a SMOKING HOT LADY! And the cars talk and Dick Dastardly's spanking Penelope Pitstop and the announcer's the evil mastermind and the Anthill Mob are weird burnt telepathic clones or something I don't even know what's happening anymore.

I dunno, it's like awful teenage fan-fiction or Hollywood movies where they try to inject as much "maturity" into a children's property because god forbid someone thinks they aren't grown up.

They rated the T-rating for a reason. It was always gonna be dark and violent.

Checked out the Scooby Apocalypse story. I had my doubts on it at first, but I actually enjoyed it and found it engaging.

Velma is part of a secret institute of scientists working on a project: implanting all of humanity with nanites to reduce war and persecution around the world. Scooby-Doo was a test subject for the nanites: it made him intelligent, but also a bit of a coward (other dogs who were tested just went feral). Shaggy is a dog trainer in the insititute who saved Scooby from a bunch of angry dogs, and the two became friends.

Velma learns that the scientists intend to use the nanites to control all of humanity. She calls in Fred and Daphne, who are small-time journalists (if she called a big news network, it would be quickly detected and denied). However, the nanites malfunction and turn everyone into monsters, and the five are the only ones unaffected.

The mystery is what happened and how to solve it, and whether they can live long enough to do so.

It's a pretty cool sci-fi element in a Scooby tale, and it works out very well.

And the characters are still the same, particularly my favourites Shaggy and Scooby, so that worked out fine.

Birdman rocks! I remember the 60s cartoon and enjoyed it immensely. I find it sad how Harvey Birdman mocked how awesome Birdman could be, even though I also found that show funny.

I quite dig it, myself. The last issue with
Gazoo's people coming down out of space and running loose throughout Bedrock on their Spring Break
    was hilarious.

Yeah, not heartbroken about skipping this one.
