Time for the Unofficial TFW2005 11th Annual Best of

What did you enjoy reading this past year? Let us know and help others who've missed out on something, find something new to try.

    Rules:
    1. Voting will run from January 4th, 2016 to EOD January 15th, 2016
    2. Please select your favourite story arcs, mini-series, mangas, graphic novels or single issues/one shots that were released in 2015 - Try to list your top 3 (more is ok too), if not, whatever you can come up with works as well
    3. When voting, remember that the story must have concluded during 2015 - The story might start off strong but then go downhill in the last issue
    4. Please include the title of the story arc
    5. If you change your mind (after rereading the stories or someone mentions one you've forgotten about), please repost your picks. If you post multiple times, I will only count the last one
    6. Once the voting period ends, the most popular stories will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place

If you're having trouble remembering what stories came out in 2015, check out the Preview Archive and be sure to read the notes at the top about the links.

It's only when we reach the end of the year that I realize that I really need to catch up on stuff from this year. The only stuff I read this year was the three main Star Wars comics (Star Wars, Darth Vader, and Shattered Empire). I thought they were all pretty good. I think Vader had the best moments, but I think I liked Shattered Empire as a whole the most.

Rusty24, please clarify your 2nd and 3rd choices.

Star Wars: Darth Vader has a few story arcs. Vader (issues 1-6) and Shadows and Secrets (issues 7-12). Vader Down does not qualify since the last 2 chapters (Part V and Part VI) was just released this year.

Star Wars also had a few story arcs. Skywalker Strikes (issues 1-6) and Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon (issues 7-12).

Listed in order (1st through 5th with an honorable mention)
Just to clarify we are only nominating for best comic overall no sub categories like best character, best story arc etc.

    1st place: Batman: End Game

    2nd place: Red Hood/Arsenal

    3rd place: Grayson

4th place: Multiple titles and I can't remember the name of the story arc but it's where the Bat family go to Darkseids home to get Damian back

5th place: Son of Batman: Damian gets powers

Honorable Mention: Batman and Robin Eternal

Best comic of 2015 was Love & Rockets from Fantagraphics, same as it has been every year since 1982. I think the title of the story was 'Sick Friends', by Jaime Hernandez.

Runner up would be the 'Corto Maltese: Beyond The Windy Isles' graphic novel from IDW, by Hugo Pratt.

Third place would be the 'Violenzia And Other Deadly Amusements' graphic novel, also from Fantagraphics, by Richard Sala.

Could you be more specific with Grayson? Agents Of Spyral story? We All Die at Dawn? Nemesis? Issue 12 (The Journey Home/A Fine Performance)?

4th: Batman and Robin: Robin Rises

5th: I think you are referring to Batman and Robin Volume 2, issues 38-40 "Superpower" and not Robin: Son of Batman

Yeah, I knew the issue number. Since you asked for specific storylines, I was trying to remember the title of Jaime's story within the issue.

#1. Spider-Verse. Most fun I've had with comics in quite some time. Just a bunch of big, dumb fun.

#2. Silk volume 1. Spun out of the above (no pun intended). I wasn't that impressed with Silk during Spider-Verse itself, but her solo title has been an absolute blast and she's turned into a very fun and likable character.

#3. Justice League 3001. I liked the first iteration of this book, but since the relaunch it feels like everything has really come together nicely and Giffen/DeMatteis have finally found a good groove here. This is by far my favorite book DC currently publishes.

In terms of Grayson it's the story where Bruce has come back but has no memories and Grayson is calling home saying hey can I come home and then he goes back to Gotham, don't know the name of it.

Also you are correct about 4th and 5th Batman and Robin: Robin Rises and Batman and Robin: Superpower

    Thanks!
