I am looking to collect Jim Lee's run on X-men. I have issue 1, but I would love to continue the series. I would prefer trade paperbacks as that would take up less space, however if the single issues are the cheapest way to go then I would go with that option.

Are you speaking of his run on adjective less X men or his entire run starting in Uncanny X Men?

Either way, there are omnibus editions. Vol 1 is out of print and runs kinda high. Vol 2 can had for around $70 depending on where you get it.

Adjectiveless X Men is extremely cheap to collect by single issues. His uncanny run is a little more expensive depending on the issue.

I'm sure there are digital versions avaliable too.

I'm talking about the 1991 series.

Yeah, get the individual issues on comixology, that would be the easiest and cheapest way. It's not as prestigious as having the physical run, but it's enough if you want to read it.

there were also a run of trading cards he did. very cool stuff, dunno where you'd find that anymore except ebay.

I bought a box of them for 20 bucks or so when I was a kid and got a signed jim lee card. still have that thing, good memories.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to be meeting Stan Lee at Boston Comic Con this year. Would you have him autograph Jim Lee's X-men #1 or would you rather have him sign one of his original works?

I would have him sign both to be honest, sure he has nothing to do with the 1991 comic, but he'll literally sign anything you give him.
So give him something he worked on, and that, and then have Jim Lee and everyone else who worked on it sign it too. And you'd have a one of a kind awesome personal item.

That's not a lot to collect, he was only on that book for about a year before he quit to go co-found Image.

I just looked in both comicology and the marvel store, they only seem to offer up to issue 8.

single issues are your best bet for cheapest, but they may take a while to track down. Also, you would need two issues of Ghost Rider (26 & 27) to understand completely one arc later in his run.

it's a little more expensive, but I highly recommend getting vol 2 of the Jim Lee omnibus.

X-Men By Claremont And Lee Omnibus HC Vol 02

A little higher priced, but it comes with the Muir Island and Apocalypse saga that is the prelude to the 1991 series and the Ghost Rider issues. Also have a cool four page pullout of the first issue cover and bonus material. Well worth the price IMO.

    Also, free shipping.

Edit: if you do an eBay search of x men jim lee run, there is an auction BIN for the entire thing minus issue 4 for $15.99. Not bad, but you'd still have to track down the other three issues.

What smkspy said. I have that Omni (LOVE IT and LOVED the fact it came out so quickly after Vol. 1 since it filled a huge gap in my X-Men OHC collection)

    Cheapest would be individual issues.

#1-7 were released as X-men: Mutant Genesis TPB/HC Amazon.com: X-Men: Mutant Genesis eBook: Chris Claremont, Jim Lee: Books

last pages of #8 and all of #9 were collected in X-Men - Ghost Rider: Brood Trouble in the Big Easy: Jim Lee, Scott Lobdell: 9780871359742: Amazon.com: Books

So you'd miss #8, 10 and 11 if you're collecting TPBs. Jim Lee drew the cover of X-Menn annual #1 if you care about that.

The Jim Lee issues of X-Men really were the best. I wish he'd have drawn more of them.

Though they're worthless if you don't have the entire crossover, which is easily available in multiple editions.

which "number one" do you have?

there were 4 interlocking covers and then 1 wrap around with all the covers.
each of the interlocking issues had a different pinup poster
