I really don't know why Miller would want to distance himself from the book. The first issue was, imho, great. Maybe he caught wind of the many people who were outraged at the idea of Miller continuing his work on the Dark Knight universe? but then why would he express interest in writting yet another installment on his own?

Honestly, depending on how DKIII ends, if Miller or someone else wanted to write more set in this universe, I would want them to delve more into the past. Especially if they delved into the events that lead to Hal leaving Earth, Diana going back to Themyscira, and Bruce hanging the cape and cowl. I really want to know how Ollie lost his arm.

That said, I wouldn't mind them also continuing Carrie's story.

Because it doesn't read like a Miller comic at all?

Most Frank Miller comics of the past few decades elicit an emotional response. You feel something when you read it. Even if that response is anger, such as in the case of DKSA, or disgust, like with Holy Terror.

This comic was competently put together on all levels, but made me feel absolutely nothing in any way whatsoever. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't an experience, either. It was completely forgettable. I already remember less about what happened in this issue which I read 2 days ago than I do about the first issue of DKSA, which I have not reread in about a decade.

We'll see if it picks up. It's fine, but I'm no longer really looking forward to what happens next. I mean, it seems pretty clear the Kandorians will be the titular 'Master Race'. Okay. But I'm less interested to see what Azz will do with them than I would have been to see what Miller would have done.

Ok, but why would that make him not want to really be associated with it anymore? Does Frank dislike the story that Brian has come up with that badly? Is this maybe Frank trying to undue some of the hype that DC created by making it sound like he had a larger role in the writting for DKIII than he actually had?

I'm glad that he isn't doing the opposite, and trying to take more credit for the story than what he actually put into it. It just seems odd to me that he would be disstancing himself from it this much and already talking about wanting to do the next one on his own.

Wait, wasn't issue #3 slated for release this week? Just read through the list of new comics for this week and it's not there, and Midtown's website now says it's coming out on the 27th.

Was it delayed a week or did I missread that it was slated for this week?

Ok, so it looks like issue #3 has been delayed yet another week, as Midtown's page now says it's not being released till the third of next month...

This is starting to get fraking frustrating...

Issue 3 finally came out today, a whole month after it's original release date. Really good issue, imho, but then again, I enjoyed the first two issues as well.

The story has been good so-far, even though I'm a little dissapointed that
Bruce is still alive and taking center stage in what was originally said to be more about Carrie. Though he reminds me a bit of old Bruce from Batman Beyond, so that helps a little
    .

What I've really been enjoying so-far has been the artwork. It both reminds me of the artwork in The Dark Knight Returns and has sort of it's own look to it.

Pretty solid mini-comic as well. Though it might help that I've been on a bit of a Green Lantern kick as of late. I'm curious to see what they're doing with Hal. At least I hope there's more for him than this.

Now the wait for issue #4, which should be coming out on March 16th.

Best issue thus far. Not fantastic, but better.

Went to a comic shop for the first time since this title got started and saw those deluxe, hardcover, pencils-only variants of the individual issues so far and GODDAMN, they look gorgeous.

I was planning on simply waiting for the first decent collection so I could just pick up all 8 issues "all-in-one," but after seeing those deluxe issues I am SERIOUSLY reconsidering my purchase plan.

I'm kind of shocked by how much I'm enjoying this. Old man Bruce is just doing it for me. I went in not expecting anything and was richly rewarded for it.

Third issue was definitely a step up from the empty and forgettable first two issues.

Still sot seeing a point, though.

Not exactly surprising given the third issue's lengthy delay, but issue 4's release has been delayed a week. Seems like a stupid reason, but I think BvS coming out that week might have had a hand in the delay. Hopefully this will be the only delay.

Edit: Well, issue #4 has been delayed at least another week. Midtown is now saying that it's coming out on the 30th. Though the Comic Shop News Spring Preview that I got today says that it won't be coming out till sometime in April.

Edit2: Midtown has again updated their page, and issue #4 is now coming out on April 6th... I'm hoping this is the last delay for this issue, but I won't be surprised if it isn't. I'm really starting to wonder what got the third issue delayed so far back that it also affected everything after it this significantly.

Edit3: I wasn't planning on updating this again, but I figured... why not. Issue #4 has now been delayed till the 20th. Which is kinda funny, because that's the day issue #5 was supposed to come out. There's no way both will come out that day, and I'm fully expecting issue #5 to get delayed a full month, but I'm hoping the original plan to not have a new issue coming out in May will help keep issue #6 from being delayed as well. Otherwise it might be September before we see the conclusion to this story.

Was going to add this to my last post, but figured it wouldn't hurt to just add this as a new post.

Issue #4 has been confirmed for the 27th, so in another two weeks we'll finally have our half-way point. I'm not sure when issue #5 comes out, but according to PreviewsWorld, issue #6 won't be coming out till August. Which is a good two month's after it's original release date in June.

Not sure what the frak is going on with this book, but it's getting a bit frustrating. Even if issues #7 and #8 come out in the two months after #6 (which I'll be surprised if they do), that'll still make it a year to complete this eight issue series.

That is nothing compared to the delays on so many series in the modern era, including a 6-month delay between issues #2 and #3 of Miller's own DKSA. And let's not forget the ongoing wait for Miller & Lee's All-Star Batman and Robin. Three years for 10 issues, and an EIGHT YEAR wait (so far) for issue 11. Now, they're saying they're going to finish out the remaining issues of the series with a different artist.

Anyway, point being, if they actually do manage to finish the 8 issues of DK3 within a year, we should consider ourselves lucky.

I have to admit that I am unucustomed to delays in comic book releases. This being my first, it's hard to not be frustrated.

Speaking of All-Star Batman and Robin, I figured that was a lost cause by now. Is there really word of it continuing? Would be nice, as I actually kinda liked it (rented it from the library system last year), but I wouldn't be surprised to see it continue to be put off indefinitely.

Edit: I can't seem to find a search function on PreviewsWorld, but I was able to find their page for issue #5 through a Google search. According to them it's set for a June 29th release. Looks like they might be adopting an every other month release schedule for the remaining issues. If so, that means it'll probably be December by the time the last issue comes out.

I can't believe it's been over a year and this thing still isn't wrapped up. Unbelievable.

And oh god, that spoiler is terrible. Reading the justification for it makes it seem like such a lazy cash grab and personally, it ruins the point of the DKR story.

Two more, if #7 just came out this goes to 9 issues now.
