I guess the Beyonder got bored and decided to restart his little game again.

Still, seeing past/future Iron Man and Thor go at each other should be awesome.

 

And soon, the rest of us will join him.

 

While Jonathan Hickman is a writer who I feel has a lot of good ideas, his characters of late feel a bit wooden and distant to me. I'm really hoping he can get back to the way he wrote when he did the Solve Everything storyline in FF that kicked off his run.

I'm hoping the story can live up to the good covers   heck i'd love it if Marvel could do anything resembling a good ending! I can't even remember the last time Marvel ended such a huge event at least somewhat properly - probably the Infinity Trilogy.

 

Secret Wars #0 was, at least to me, really boring. I don't keep up with a lot of Marvel but 8 - 10 pages of Reed's smartass kid doesn't make for interesting reading, imo.

The cover and the splash page showing off Secret Wars #1 was the best part.

 

So, this like what? A mass invasion by the Ultimate universe of the 616 universe?

Agreed, it was a terrible FCBD issue, the AoT 2nd half wasn't any good either. For me, Hickman's writing can be heavily hit or miss, and lately he just seems so engrossed in telling this huge story at the expense of his character work that the work just gets boring really fast. Hopefully he'll do better here, but I'm not holding my breath.

Like it will last, they are aiming for a reboot so most dying or dead characters can return easily. The Infinity Gauntlet did it better, they killed a lot of characters too, but the story was solid and only took 6 six issues. Then they brought everyone back. I'm having trouble following what exactly is going on here and who is fighting who, I feel like I'm missing issues.

 

This could be my new chance to get into the comics. Since the Battleworld is going to be the new continuity.

IGN said in their review for issue 1 that this might not be the best place to start for new readers.

 

It's not a reboot, and yeah, his death isn't going to last, specially not with GOTG2 coming.
And I don't care for anyone of the comic guardians anyway, the only team member I care for and want to see survive is Flash/Agent Venom, and then get rid of the terrible Bendis alien look for him.

 

Yeah, they killed off two major Marvel characters that happen to be in their movies. This is just temporary. Kinda like the Age of Ultron event.

 

What a waste of time and money that turned out to be.

 

IGN gets paid for their reviews, they're a horrible source.

 

Being the only Marvel comic I've read, it really was. Where was Ultron during all of it? Nowhere!
